If you've logged on Facebook recently, you have probably noticed articles being shared about Disney movies coming to Netflix in September of 2016. Excitement has been bouncing from person to person and Disney movie quotes have been thrown around like a language in and of itself.
Janice Marinelli, President, Disney-ABC Domestic Television said, "'With this cutting-edge agreement, we are thrilled to take our highly valued relationship with Netflix to the next level by adding Disney's premier films to their programming lineup.'" From Disney Pixar to Marvel and beyond, this licensing agreement seems to be yet another step forward into how accessible and popular Disney is and will remain in the 21st century. This deal isn't actually new, though. In fact, it was signed made in 2012, but of course, the wait has been long and most of us forgot this was coming, if we ever knew at all.
However, this isn't just benefiting Disney. Netflix stock has been low, but has improved significantly as news of these changes has resurfaced. In my opinion, this will help the "demand" for Netflix grow, as more and more people see it as an easy option to watch the new Disney movies. The decrease in popularity of DVDs and the increase of demand for streaming is clear in this partnership.
According to CNN, "The partnership covers all movies made in 2016 and beyond." So while we may not have access to all Disney movies at our fingertips any time soon, we can enjoy the fact that each new Disney movie released will be able to be watched by us in the comfort of our own homes in just a few short months.
