Having a dog is one thing, but having a cat is a whole other story. My family and I recently took in our cute little ball of sass, Holly. Our lives have been changed ever since.

1. You will never have your own space. Ever.

Since having a cat, I've noticed that my space has become very limited. It doesn't matter if you're in the middle of watching Netflix on your laptop or going to the bathroom. Wherever you go, look down. There will be a little ball of fur look right back at you.

2. Your bed is no longer your bed.

All animals like to mark their territory. What's cuter than them making YOUR bed THEIR bed??? (Note: Sarcasm)

3. They like to climb. A LOT.

You walk in the kitchen. They're on top of the fridge. You turn around. They're on top of the table. How do they do it? I'm scared to stand on a chair to reach the top shelf sometimes and cats just go around climbing on everything like they own the place!

4. The fatter the better.

I have always been a fan of the fluffy animals. Having a fat cat has always been a dream of mine. Looking into those big round eyes and seeing a full furry face makes me want to cry just thinking about it. If you ever get a cat, make sure to chub them up a bit. You'll be glad you did.

5. They do NOT like to be picked up.

I can't tell you how many times I have been yelled at for picking my cat up. No, it wasn't my mom yelling at me. It was Holly. You see, just because they're small doesn't mean they want to be coddled. Let them come to you with the love and cuddles.

6. Cat naps are real.

There are times where I will look up just to see Holly sleeping at the end of my bed. Next thing I know, I'm asleep. I swear their sleep is contagious.

7. The sass is too real.

When people say cats have the sass, they're not kidding. Cats can sit there without a care in the world and have the worst resting bitch face. I feel personally attacked sometimes.

8. The claws really do come out.

Wearing shorts or exposing my skin, in general, is never a good idea anymore. You know how cats like to knead? Yeah, they do it a lot and when they have long nails, look out! Those scratches on my legs are not from razors, people. It's my cute little cat.

9. Sleeping through the whole night is no longer a thing.

I used to think that the meowing (whining) I would hear in the middle of the night was apart of my dreams. I was wrong. Because cats like to sleep all day, they want you to be awake with them in the middle of the night. Let's just say I wake up a lot to a cat on my chest waiting for me wake up.

10. They want to make you feel better.

As much as people like to think that cats are mean and evil, they actually really loving. Before getting a cat, I was more of a dog person. Even though dogs have a lot of love to give, cats do too. There was a time that I was crying in my room and Holly just came up to me, meowed and started rubbing her face all over me trying to make me feel better. It worked. Sometimes you don't need the comfort of a human but from a little furry friend.

Thanks, Holly for covering my hands with little scratches and for waking me up in the middle of the night. You're really lucky you're cute and that I can't resist your pretty blue eyes. Love ya, kiddo (Or should I say CATto.)

(I know, I hate myself too. It's okay.)

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
