How I Use My Voice To Stand Up For My Disability
Disabled Beauty

I wanted to announce some amazing news! I see more of the disabled community doing amazing to prove society that we are able to do anything we set our mind to do. I talk about being Miss Mauldin Teen USA in one of my previous articles. I wanted to show the world that my disability doesn’t define who I am as a person nor my beauty. I still have that platform and will never give up on even after making my dreams come true.

I created something to show the world how a person with disability life is actually like. I want to show the society how wrong they are about people with disabilities. They love to show the world that people with disabilities life is sad but it’s not. One thing I do hate so much is when some people try to use us as a way to win something or make themselves look better. Some people brag about how they “helped” people with disability as a way to make themselves look better. Honey, we don’t need you. We are just fine. We want people actually to care about helping us. Most of us don’t need help. We just want people to see us as humans, not products.

My mom and I always try to find new ways to promote my platform. We started doing a project that took some time and I want to announce that we have a website called Disabled Beauty.

Disabled Beauty is a place where people with or without a disability can go in and have a different perspective on a person with a disability life. I will be blogging and be making videos about my life. I promise you it will not be boring. My friends and I will be on there and you will be laughing. There will be a place to purchase clothes, accessories, and other items so you can support Disabled Beauty. Disabled Beauty will use most of the money to donate to certain organizations that support people with disabilities. I believe this will help give the world a way to see people with a disability as positive and instead of a negative way that society have been doing.

Disabled Beauty will be a step to help many people with disabilities to know their worth and know they can do anything they set their mind to do. I want to be a role model to many young children who have a disability and even without to know they can do whatever they want in life. Not allow society to define who they are. We are different but we are all beautiful. Looks don’t define anyone. It’s what’s inside counts. Please support Disabled Beauty and spread the word!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
