Graduation ceremony at USC just recently happened. I was among the thousands of students who graduated from USC this year. Over the past four years, I've met a lot of people.

Some became my best friends, while others came and left.

If you are pre-college or are currently in college, you might want to know this. If you just graduated, you might nod your head like a ringing bell as you read this. Here are the types of people you might meet in college:

The Wild

Remember that roommate of yours who are almost never home at night? Or maybe, you are that roommate who always dresses up and goes out at night? Just be safe. That's all.

The Constantly Late

Whether it's late to class or to you guys' hangout. Don't you hate that text received at your scheduled meetup time, "I'm 2 min away!" or "I'm OMW!" (when you know they probably just got out of bed)? The best solution is honestly to set the "meetup time" 30 min earlier than when you actually want them to show up!

The "Phoner"

I would greatly appreciate it if you can just end that conversation with whoever you're texting or let me throw your phone into a ditch right now so that we can have a face-to-face conversation.

The Non-Responsive

What else do I need to say?

The "Let's Get Coffee Together Soon"

Still, some people do reply to texts, or sometimes you just randomly run into old "friends" on campus. They would smile/reply enthusiastically (or so it seems), "let's hang out together soon! I've missed you!" And then, that promise just goes straight into a black hole because they never really make any follow-up plan with you.

Don't be too discouraged by this list. I'm not saying if someone fits one of the types, they can't be your friend. Some of my best friends are chronically late or could hardly stick to our plans because we are all busy college students. But it's all about what the love and connection you have would compel them or you to do for each other in the end.

My roommates (aka. my best friends) surprised me with a 6-am farewell party/breakfast, the morning I was leaving for Tuscon, AZ, because we might not see each other for a long while. You bet that I cried like a baby because I know how getting up before noon on a weekend is almost "Mission Impossible" for them, but they got up at 5 just for me. In the end, they completed "Mission Impossible" because they love me. And I would do anything for them as well. That makes them my best friends.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
