Dierks Bentley Goes From Being Drunk On A Plane To Somewhere On A Beach

Could his two songs possibly be connected?

Dierks Bentley released his smash hit "Drunk On A Plane" on April 21, 2014, and the premise of the song is that his bride to be got cold feet or cheated on him. So he's going on his two-week honeymoon alone, and on the plane ride to Cancun, he's getting himself and everyone else on the plane drunk (except for the pilot, of course). On January 19 of this year, "Somewhere On A Beach" was released, and I found it to be strikingly similar to "Drunk On A Plane." What if Dierks had a change of plans and cancelled his plane ride home from Cancun?

We all know that he got very intoxicated on the plane, and who knows if he actually passed out in the baggage claim or not, but he got to Cancun somehow. However, once he got there, maybe he decided to just keep drinking. He drank so much that he forgot where he was, so he claimed that he was somewhere on a beach.

He wanted to move on from his ex, so he found a new girl to drink all day and party all night with. He makes it very clear to his ex that he is not just sitting around at home, but in fact went wheels up and found a naughty girl with a body that can get him like she never did (his lyrics, not mine). Talk about the ultimate roast.

Dierks says that he is nowhere to be found, because he is not home. So no matter how hard his ex tries to find him, she won’t. In "Somewhere On A Beach," he's talking directly to his ex. So he could be sitting on a beach in Cancun, drunkenly telling her about how crazy his week has been so far and that he's doing just fine without her. He hasn’t even slept all week because he's having too much fun to go to sleep.

He claimed that he will “try anything, to drown out the pain,” in "Drunk On A Plane," and for him, that seems to be drinking strong drinks and sleeping with a new girl, as the new song tells us.

If all of this does indeed go together, who knows if Dierks ever plans on coming home from Cancun, or from whatever beach he's on. I wonder if he’ll ever come out with another song that is a follow up to "Somewhere On A Beach," or one that's a prequel to "Drunk On A Plane." Either would be pretty cool because the prequel would tell us what exactly his ex did to him, and the sequel would tell us if he does indeed stay on that beach for a long time, and if he ever makes it far with his new girl. I'm genuinely curious to see how all of this plays out for him. I also love his music and want him to come out with new songs.

If you go to Cancun and happen to see Dierks Bentley there, tell him I say hi, and ask him if his two songs indeed share a connection.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
