Prior to arriving at Penn State, there were a lot of words and phrases I was unaccustomed to hearing. Since then, I have picked up on a lot of new words that I’ve added to my vocabulary. The following terms are words and phrases I hear on campus on a daily basis:
1. Deadass
Definition: To be completely and honestly serious.
2. DMV
Definition: An abbreviation for the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area.
3. Bop
Definition: Used to reference a good song; to say that a song is really good.
4. NOVA
Definition: A term used to refer to the Northern Virginia area.
5. Hip
Definition: Cooler than cool, the pinnacle of what is "it."
6. Geek
Definition: The state of being amusing or humorous.
7. Skrrt
Definition: To move away/get away from somebody.
8. Fracket
Definition: A frat jacket; a jacket you wear to frats because you don't mind if, at the end of the night, it is covered in beer, frat sludge, or other unidentifiable liquids. Also, it is not a big deal if this jacket is lost during or stolen during the course of the night.
9. FTK
Definition: For the kids; a chant heard at Penn State's THON.
10. FTG
Definition: For the glory; a Penn State motto.
11. Bet
Definition: Meaning yes/I agree/okay.
12. Dip
Definition: To leave somewhere abruptly.
13. Thicc
Definition: Another word for a curvy girl.
14. Beat
Definition: Adjective used to describe something very lame, worn out, un-fun, or boring.
15. Schwasty
Definition: When someone is really drunk.
16. Knocked
Definition: To be sleeping heavily or just normally, but generally heavily.
17. Snack
Definition: Someone who looks very attractive
