The Dichotomy Of Knowledge And Innocence

Is knowledge bliss?

The Dichotomy Of Knowledge And Innocence

There was a time once where everything was buried in innocence. Innocence is mistakenly identified as “the lack of knowledge,” or just simply not knowing any better. Innocence is quickly forgiven, but intelligence is not. In fact, innocence is the basis of all knowledge. Innocence is knowledge in its purest form.

When we learn things, we have to find an elaborate and intelligent way of passing on our knowledge. But our knowledge is not wisdom, not in the least. The people that possess innocence have wisdom. Knowledgeable people do not. Nothing against those people, although we must come to a general consensus that the intelligent people are really the ignorant people. They refuse to accept new information if it even points a finger in the opposite way of their beliefs. Then there are the innocents. They are not ignorant, they are accepting of everything they hear. They may not completely buy into everything they are told or learn, but they hear it all and see it all from multiple perspectives. They are the ones that pass the information on without a smear of bias. What they pass on is completely unscathed, they pass it on as it is. Can this possibly be all there is in this world? The knowledgeable versus the innocents? I’m not too sure that’s the case. At least not for every person.

I believe the ones that do not reach the harmony are the intelligents that find no use in leaving some things unanswered, and very few times it can also be the innocents that see no use in having any answers. I believe the media picks off those people and uses them simply because they are “unique” to our egotistical society. As for the rest of us, the ones that society deems “normal,” there remains a balance. We are neither dumb, nor entirely smart. Intelligent people try much too hard to make things sound beautiful to compensate for the darkness they see, but it is not beautiful. The real beauty lies in the simple things that cannot be over-analyzed. Real beauty is waking up to the person you love in the morning and not having to use excessive stylistic devices to explain what a wonderful shade of green your partner’s eyes are. The innocents hold the secrets of the world, they are the key to all the things everyone can only hope to understand one day. There is no use in drowning our brains with formulas and long words; all we need to know we already know. There is no wisdom in knowledge.

DISCLAIMER: As ignorance has seemed to cause various issues in today's world and done more bad than good, I do not approve of anything that's been happening -- this is just a piece of writing after all.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
