Over the weekend, I was delighted to find a new pastry shop that I had never heard of before. My mom actually found it while we were walking through the University Town Center in Sarasota. I'm never one to shy away from a sweet shop, desserts are one of my favorite things ever. The first thing that caught my eye were their perfectly iced cupcakes, the second were their giant cookies that looked like they just came out of the oven. The real show stoppers, though, were cake balls. Basically, imagine a cake pop without the stick. They had them in almost every flavor of cake you could think of, but the best by far was the Fruity Pebbles cake ball. Are you ready for this? It had Fruity Pebbles baked. In. The. Batter. Then, it's dipped in white chocolate and Fruity Pebbles are sprinkled on top. Pure genius.
So naturally, it got me in the mood to think about some of my favorite dessert recipes. I'm always baking, and when I'm not, I'm searching Pinterest to find my next recipe. Here are my top three favorites that you should totally try sometime this week.
1.) Cake Batter Cheeseball
Whaaaaaat? A savory appetizer is turned into a dessert? Yes, you heard correctly. This recipe comes straight from Sweet ReciPEAS and mixes cream cheese, butter, Funfetti cake mix and powdered sugar together to make one sweet concoction. After freezing for two hours, the ball is rolled in rainbow sprinkles and served with animal crackers, vanilla wafers, waffle cones, basically anything you want. Be warned: it's rather addictive and can be eaten up by you and your friends before you even know it.
2.) Sopapilla Cupcakes
Sopapillas are one of my favorite desserts, so it only makes sense to put it in a cupcake. This recipe comes to us from Garvey Test Kitchen. You make your basic vanilla cupcake with a cinnamon twist. To top it off? Sweet Meringue buttercream icing and sprinkles of cinnamon and sugar. The best part of this dessert definitely has to be the mini cinnamon-sugar tortilla crisps that serve as the little wow factor. Excuse me while I go make ten batches.
3.) White Chocolate Reese's Pieces Peanut Butter Chip Cookies
Try and say that five times fast. These cookies will instantly satisfy anyone's sweet tooth. Baker by Nature gives us these colossal cookies that mix white chocolate chips, Reese's Pieces and peanut butter chips together to create the chewiest cookie in the world. Every bite you take out of this cookie gives you either peanut butter, chocolate, or both. You can't go wrong with these, y'all. Plus, they make a great date night activity. (:
