If you haven't been on Facebook, Twitter, or social media at all in the past week, you probably missed Demi Lovato speaking out and saying that in 2017, she is stepping out from the spotlight. Here's the tweet Lovato sent out on October 4th, 2016.

This had fans wondering if the star was going to come back. One user asked, "But are you coming back?" Lovato simply replied, "dunno. It doesn't feel worth it anymore. I'd rather do charity work tbh."
My personal opinion about this is that while I view Demi Lovato as a role model for not only myself, but for young women and even little girls, I think this break will be good for her, besides this isn't the first time she has taken a break. The first time she had taken a break was to check herself into rehab for her eating disorder. When she came out of rehab, not only was she a stronger woman, but she also made stronger music. She made music that really connected to others. However, taking a break isn't about coming back with a great song, taking a break means letting go of everything that is holding one down in the moment. It means clearing the mind and body of all the toxins that taking over one's life. Taking a break means trying to find inner peace.
Others did not view this break in the same way, some even stooping to the level of tweeting Lovato that she should kill herself because she is an embarrassment to women. This all stems from the fact that Lovato stated that Taylor Swift failed to empower other women by teaming up with her pals against Katy Perry. Lovato then went on to say that her words were taken out of context, but whether they were or not, it doesn't give people the right to wish death on someone, especially on someone that has struggled with their mental health.
This break is exactly what Demi Lovato needs and whether she comes back or not, I personally will stand behind her decision. At the end of the day, she has to make the best choice for her personal wellbeing.
