Hello Profs! Whether you are a transfer student, an incoming freshman, or simply a returning student who is tired of the dining hall and food court, you're probably wondering about some of the dining options at Rowan. Wonder no more! Here is your guide to the eating facilities on Rowan's campus! (I am a picky eater with dietary restrictions however so take my opinions with a grain of salt)!
8. Holly Pointe Commons
Yes, I am certain for HPC residents this dining hall is crazy convenient, but I always felt as though they didn't have a whole lot of options. That being said, the quality of the food was more consistently better than the dining hall-- but they had no ice cream (the soft serve doesn't count). Also, people got sick there last year (you didn't hear it from me).
7. Dining Hall
The food is far from great, but it is always tolerable and there are a plethora of options. The perogies and stroganoff are to DIE for, as are the potatos au gratin. The all-you-can-eat set up certainly doesn't hurt. Pro(f) tip: there's an outlet in the far left corner, in case you want to camp out there for a couple of hours.
6. Prof's Place
Don't attack me! This one is a drunk favorite, as the food is greasy and feels better than anything else the morning after/the night of a party. However, there is a finite amount of options, and the food quality (especially at grill nation) decreases as the school year goes on. That being said, the Jersey Mike's cheesesteak is your craving's best friend.
5. "Starbucks"
YES. IT IS IN QUOTATION MARKS BECAUSE IT IS NOT, IN FACT, STARBUCKS! There are two of these impostor kiosks on campus, one in HPC and one in the student center. If you are really jonesing for a frappuccino, it does the trick. And it IS Starbucks coffee, which tastes amazing after months of watered-down K-cups and the lukewarm dining hall coffee. Don't try the baked goods unless you're prepared to be disappointed! Also, they don't take Starbucks cards or apps :(
4. Food Court
Many will likely be annoyed with how low this is on the list, as the Food Court is a popular favorite of Rowan students. Plenty of options, convenient location, and meal-swipe applicable! What's not to love? Well, honestly, I do enjoy the food court. However, there are only so many meals to try. The switching of the Twisted Mac kiosk helps keep things interesting, though!
3. Einstein's
BECAUSE BAGELS. Also, the croissant dogs. And the super cool seating area. Maybe I'm so passionate about it because it's so new? However, it does not accept meal swipes, which is a huge L.
2. Owl's Nest
The love of my life! The two locations (in Robinson Hall and James Hall) were my safe haven! I could grab coffee and a bagel (both of which were surprisingly good-- well, it was STARBUCKS COFFEE, so...) for a meal swipe and then go to class. You can also get soda, a sandwich/salad, and chips for a meal swipe!
1. Ry's
Ry's, while technically not on campus, is the AMAZING. On Saturday mornings, they offer meal swipe breakfast! If you haven't tried Ry's, just do it. I recommend the cheddar bagel with cream cheese. AM-AH-ZING!
Happy eating, Profs!
