With November coming to a close, it's time to break out the decorations and kick into full Christmas mode. Winter is the only time of year you can curl up in your bed for 36 straight hours and nobody can judge you because everyone else is doing it too, and there's no better way to kick off the month of December than a Christmas movie marathon. While this is a ranking of the best movies to watch during the holiday season, we all need to acknowledge the fact that these movies are all classics. Maybe you agree with the list and maybe you don't, but we can all agree that all of these movies are perfect for the holiday season.
15. "The Nightmare Before Christmas"
Does this count as a Christmas movie? Or Halloween? Both, maybe?
14. "Miracle on 34th Street"
Any movie with Santa involved is automatically a Christmas movie, right?
13. "A Charlie Brown Christmas"
Is this movie not a staple in everyone's holiday season? Admit that we all love the Charlie Brown tree. ADMIT IT.
12. "Fred Claus"
Even though it's a lesser known Christmas film, everyone is a sucker for a comedy about Christmas. It's nice to know that even Santa's family is dysfunctional.
11. "A Christmas Carol"
"A Christmas Carol:" A life lesson hidden behind the curtain of a Christmas movie. It can't get any better.
10. "The Polar Express"
Tom Hanks is the original America's Sweetheart.
9. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
A classic story, but we all know the Jim Carrey version is better. Sorry.
8. "The Santa Clause"
Imagining your own dad as Santa and applying this thought to the movie makes it 10 times better.
7. "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer"
The song and the movie are classics, nobody can deny it.
6. "Home Alone"
The premise of this movie is quite bizarre when you think about it, but somehow the craziness of the situation makes for a classic Christmas movie.
5. "A Christmas Story"
The leg lamp! Dropping the 'F' bomb in front of your parents! It can't get any better!
4. "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
We can all agree that the live action version of the Grinch is leaps and bounds better than the animated. Thank you, Ron Howard, for this miracle movie.
3. "Love Actually"
Is this cast not the greatest ensemble of people you've ever seen? Is the ending of this movie (without giving away spoilers) the most jealousy-inducing end to a movie? Don't we all want to have this romantic of a Christmas this year?
2. "Elf"
This movie was a given.
1. "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation"
It is completely acceptable to watch this movie once a day in December.
