So upon this fall season, I have heard so many different ideas about love and the different types of feelings people have about it. While adventuring through social media, I have seen many posts about how young children would define love, but nothing really about how college students would define love. I went around and asked my friends who are all in college how they would define love in their own words, and this is what I found...

1. "I think I'd define love as unconditionally accepting someone for who they are and wanting to be there for them. It's finding a ride or die. Even time can go by without talking but you are still there for them and wish the best for their life."

2. "Love for me is when something good happens and they are the first person you want to call. When you are with them things don’t seem as bad. They can calm you down when shit seems to be going bad. No matter how much they annoy you at times you still want to be with them. You can fight all you want but in the end you still know that that person is your person."

3. "Love to me is investing your whole self into something. Doesn’t always have to be another person like we’re taught. But I think its something that takes time to understand and not to be thrown around with no actual intent."

4. "In my own words, love is when you know exactly what your partner is thinking, exactly how they’re feeling, and knowing instantly when something about them is off. It’s knowing their favorite foods, how they take their coffee, and knowing exactly what they want to do on a Saturday night. Love is when you fight but instantly regret it the second its over, and swear you never want to fight again because the pain of losing them is too much to bear. Love is looking at that person across the table from you and knowing that you never want to spend a waking moment away from them for as long as you live. But love isn’t just limited to intimate relationships. Love is caring so deeply about someone that you can’t possibly imagine your life without them. It’s caring about their well being, wondering if they’re doing okay, and calling them once a week just because you miss seeing them and want to hear the sound of their voice. Love is all around us and it is such a beautiful thing."

5. "I would define love as something that is so delicate and so unique to each individual person. Love can be towards so many things, not only just people. But when you have a love for someone, it's so beautiful and magical. It can make you feel things you never thought you could before. You find your person and understand that there is true beauty in this world. The love we have for places is so cool, like when you get to your happy place and your soul just ignites and you get chills down your spine. There is so much love that goes into everything we do, everything we believe and everything we think."

6. "Love is balance. It's strong enough to get you out of bed in the morning but can bring you to your knees with the same strength."

7. "Love is our ability to find our values and interests in another."

8. "Of course there's the love that is kind, patient, selfless, and I think all those things are true. I think it's also wanting the genuine best for someone/something and doing everything to make that happen. Love makes you focus less on yourself because it satisfies you in a way that you're not desperately searching for something to fill you up."

9. "Love. I don't think love can have one meaning or one definition. Everyone seeks love in a very different way. For me, it's when I'm with my family. When I'm with them I can physically feel an emotional feeling running through my body and it makes me feel super happy and smile from cheek to cheek. It's when I'm with my friends, and we are all happy and smiling together. It's when I'm cuddling my dog in my bed while watching Netflix. It's when I'm with the person I love and we are walking down the street holding hands. Love is a crazy factor in life... but everyone is loved or is loving someone or something. You just have to find what makes you super happy and smile from cheek to cheek."

10. "I think love is compromise. I think love comes with pure happiness and passion. Although, love is also about settlement between people and works around how someone can make another content while also making themselves happy. Love requires effort and time and when true love comes, there is no way to escape that warm-hearted feeling bestowing in your chest and in your head. It’s as if another person has marked you for life because that mark will always be a part of you when love is good and when love is bad, that mark will always affect you in some way. Love does not end."

11. "Love is butterfly kisses and star gazing on a Thursday night. Love is when your song comes on the radio and your person takes the long way to your house because the sound of you singing is the most beautiful noise they've ever heard. Love is tracing shapes on palms of hands and making weird faces from across the room. Love is finding a home within someone else. Love is knowing that you’re safe wrapped in their arms and not wanting to be anywhere else."

12. "For me, love has a lot of different ways of being shown. Love for me is when I can look at someone and consider them family. I would do anything for my family and friends. At any point in the day they know they can count on me to be there for them and vice versa. I know it's love when I can finally meet someone and want to do everyday things with them for the rest of my life. Love is looking into their eyes and feeling nothing but happiness. Love is when you are willing to get out of your comfort zone to make even just one person's day better."

13. "You know you're falling in love when you can feel someone becoming a part of you. It feels off at first because you aren't used to it, but then you realize that their heavy involvement in your life is okay because they make you a better person - they make you someone you want to be."

14. "Love can’t be searched for at clubs, parties, and other places where you expect to find it. In fact, it can’t be found if you’re desperately looking for it. If I can sum love up in one word, it would be, unexpected. You see, love likes to appear out of thin air when you realize that a person has been there for you from the start. You soon start to realize that a life without that one person is unimaginable. Love can be a lot of things good and bad. Love can be an escape and make you feel as though you are on top of the world. But love can also be scary too. It can be a double-edged sword digging into your skin if you force yourself to find it, and end up believing in someone who gave you the attention that you craved for. You’ll hurt looking for it and hurt realizing that they might not be the one. You’ll know what love is when you truly feel a “team” effort and can’t spend a single day without seeing or talking to that person. There won’t be one person in the relationship who’s iffy about it and wanting to leave. Rather, you would see two fighters fighting to stay. Love is adoring every little thing about your friend. Love is accepting a person for who they are now and looking past their imperfections and who they were. Love is realizing that a certain person makes you the happiest you’ve been and realizing that your happiness is close to non-existent without them. When you realize that they are the one, you’ll soon start to see everything fall into place perfectly. Love is unexpected."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
