You'll be alright.

Dear (insert your name here),

Midterms are either here, or they've come and gone and now you're anxiously awaiting the arrival of your grades. You're thankful because it's over, but now in a constant state of prayer for at least a C.

Every time you think it couldn't get harder, or it couldn't get worse, something happens that surprises you. At least you're always on your toes, right?

You can't remember the last time you ate a vegetable that wasn't fried or wasn't a form of potato and your body consists more of coffee then it does water right now.

We've all been there, and at some point we will probably be there again.

I know it's tough right now but keep your head up. Search for the freshest coffee, the quietest study rooms and the most supportive friends (Jesus included). Those are things that will get you through.

Thanksgiving is almost here, which means Christmas is almost here which means that the long awaited break is almost here.

At the beginning of the semester I bet you thought you couldn't make it to midterms. Yet here you are.

Now you're thinking you can't make it to Christmas. But you can and you will. You're so close.

It's probably cold and starting to get dreary, and it's hard to find good things. So I've found them for you.

1. Someone is probably acing an interview for the first adult job!

2. There has only ever been one disease eradicated from the Earth, but scientists are really close to eradicating the second!

3. Every year lots of trees are accidentally planted because squirrels forgot where they hid their nuts.

4. The actors who voiced Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were married in real life.

5. Dogs exist.

Turkey, mashed potatoes and Hawaiian Rolls are in your near future so take a deep breath.

Soon you will be fighting with your siblings, driving around to look at Christmas lights and listening to Michael Buble's Christmas album without getting judged because Halloween hasn't even happened yet.

You've probably heard it before but I'll remind you now, "It's just a bad day, not a bad life."

There are always good things happening around you, you just have to look up and notice them.

You are more than likely going to pass most of your classes, you are going to make it through midterms (and their results) and you're going to make it to the end of this semester. It will all be okay.

It gets really tough and hard sometimes. You know it, I know it, and we all understand. So please don't ever feel alone. Please don't stop believing in yourself and never forget why you started in the first place.

You will see it through to the end, I believe in you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
