Is it really time to go back to school already? I honestly can not believe how fast summer went by! Some of you may be heading off to college as freshman that will be living on campus and now you have to figure out how you will decorate your dorm.

I was recently in that position of college freshman moving into my dorm, so I went over to YouTube to look up DIY projects. YouTube is honestly the best tool to find easy DIY projects besides Pinterest! Here are a couple of videos that I used to make some of my decor along with some pictures of what I actually made :

1. DIY Grid

I used wooden dowels and wrapped each one with electric tape as shown in the video! I found these cute images on google and simply printed them out! I wanted to spice up the clothes pins by spray painting some white and painting others grey and copper!

2. DIY framed quote

I found an old frame lying around and decided to paint it grey, and I spray painted the back white. I used a copper acrylic paint pen from Hobby Lobby to write on the glass part of the frame!

3. DIY Wall Art

For this DIY project, I purchased copper spray paint from Target and the flowers and canvas are from Hobby Lobby. To get the gradient effect, I sprayed heavily on the bottom and moved the spray away from the canvas as I moved upwards. I spray painted the flowers separately. I sprayed heavily on the first one and eased up as I went down!

4. DIY Marble Laptop Case

This DIY is so easy! You just get some marble contact paper, measure out the top of your laptop, cut it out, and stick it on there! You can use an exacto knife to cut out the apple on an apple laptop too.

5. DIY Tapestry

This is the tapestry that I made out of table cloth, acrylic copper paint and stencils! I made my own eyelash stencils to make the lashes, and letter stencils to create "Glamorous." I also used a hot glue gun to shape the tapestry how I wanted it to look.

6. DIY flower envelope frame

I found this picture on Twitter and it inspired me to recreate this for my dorm so I can add it to my wall art. I used an old picture frame and spray painted it with copper. I spray painted the background with white spray paint. I took an envelope and glued that down to the back. Then I took the flowers that I bought from Hobby Lobby and glued them down!

7. DIY tassel garland

My tassel garland is actually made from the leftover cloth from my tapestry! I used the edges as the rope part and used hot glue to shape it. Then I cut out squares of fabric for the actual tassel and cut it up. I used copper spray paint to give a rose gold effect!

So that is everything that I made for my dorm. I am so proud of how it came out! I am especially proud because I saved so much money on decor, and who doesn't like saving money? College is expensive enough! I hope this article inspires you to make your own decor rather than going out to buy a bunch of stuff!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
