Dear Winter,
From your slashing cold winds that slap us (walkers) of New York in the face, as we commute to the random days of warm weather that we aren't complaining about, we want and need you to end. When fall first starts it's fun and all, with the pumpkin spice everything era of Halloween to the gingerbread and coziness of the holidays, but the only holiday we need now is summer.
Winter clothes are not fun anymore and my concern for dressing up for school is non existent. Many others and myself are sick and tired of throwing on jeans and jackets to everything and would much rather chill in a pair of shorts or a dress/skirt/romper for the ladies. Don't get me started on layering up; wearing hundreds of jackets to walk out into the subway that is over a hundred degrees? I have had way too many massive sweat attacks this winter.
But I still have love and knowledge about the suburban life, for I am originally from the suburbs in Maryland. Yes, we have cars and don't have to face the harsh cold most of the time we decide to leave our house, but a cruise in our car with the windows down and actually enjoying the weather would be pretty good time. Not to mention the race of the century that is rushing to your car in the freezing cold that is actually probably colder than it is outside.
I don't feel much sympathy when I'm discussing with someone how and why winter needs to end and never come back and they disagree. Everything is better in the summer; no school and no layering: what could be any better! Maybe I'm just not the winter and cold weather person at the end of the day. I can always move to California when I'm older... Or the Sahara desert.
