Dear Trump...

I only wonder how Washington feels about you.

Dear President Elect,

Words cannot describe my emotions towards the outcome of this presidential election cycle. I look on social media and I see people who are supposed to be best friends and some of whom are family fighting, using foul language, and just being cruel to one another.

You, Mr. President Elect, have instilled fear in this country I did not realize was possible after 9 / 11. You have brought out the worse in this country.

I only hope that you look at this great nation and see all the progress we have made. I hope that you see the fear in someone from the LGTBQ+ community and understand how hard they have fought and are still fighting for the same rights and respect as their straight, cisgender counter parts.

I hope when you look at your granddaughter, you see the possibility of her becoming president one day and that women deserve so much more credit than they receive.

I hope that we only go forward as a country and that we continue to fight for equal rights for everyone in our wonderful nation. I hope that we help those who are finding themselves on hard times economically. I can only hope that women will soon be equal to their male counter parts that we will not have to fight for equal pay and to maintain control of our own bodies.

I hope that you create an education system that will work for all students and that those who struggle in school will get the help they need.

I hope that you recognize the social justice issues in this country and work on mending the gap between different races, religions, and genders. I hope that as a president you can bring our divided nation together.

I hope that quality medical care is easier to access and that life saving medicines become more affordable.

I hope that as president you understand that we will never stop fighting for what we believe in. I hope that at the end of the term we are in a much better place as a country than we are currently, because I will not lie to you I do not have much hope in my country right now.

I am sure that you are aware of the lack of faith that America and the rest of the world has in you. I truly hope you prove them all wrong. I honestly hope that four years from now you are leaving the country in better shape than when you first gained power. I cannot change what happened; neither can the rest of the nation. Four years from now, I hope you have proved everyone wrong and I hope our great nation is still great.

Sincerely,

The future of this country.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
