Dear Sisters,

Never in my life did I imagine moving halfway across the country and meeting my best friends. We may be super close or not so close, but each of you have impacted my life in the best way possible. I laugh out loud when people say sororities are full of girls who just pay for their friends or it’s just a fake scene to be in the “in crowd.” We aren’t all dumb blondes or spoiled rich girls, we don’t party every night of the week. Yes, we may dress up, have mixers with fraternities, or have big events but this is way more than that. It is a home away from home, a family.

The bonds we have created and the memories we have shared are as real as they can get. Like I said we may not all be best friends but each and every one of you are my sisters and i know i can count on you for anything. We all share many amazing times together like Formal, Christmas dinner and Hayride. A sister is someone who watches your back and doesn’t stab it. They tell you the honest truth because it will help you out in the end. Wearing our letters is an honor and I wouldn’t want to share them with anyone else.

I cry a lot and you all know that, so thank you for all being a shoulder to cry on whenever I need it. When I'm homesick and just need a hug, you guys are there. When it’s a bad day, you all brighten it up. When I just want to sit inside and do nothing, you pull me out of bed and make me go have fun.

As the days in our sorority go by I am amazed at all the love and support that comes from our sorority. When one sister needs a prayer or help, there are a swarm of girls willing to help and do whatever they need. This sorority is something special that I wish could be shown to the whole world. They say you meet your bridesmaids in college and I can definitely say that's true. Some or most of these girls I will keep in my life and can see myself keeping in contact with.

So to my sisters, thank you for all that you have done for me and what you all continue to do. Sisterhood is like taking your bra off after a long day, taking a big drink of water when you're thirsty, and a shoulder to cry on when you absolutely need it.

Thank you Sigma for being my home away from home and giving me my best friends. You girls are my favorite human-beings and I cant wait to share the rest of my journey with you guys.

Sigma Love and all of mine,

Your Sorority Sister

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
