Dear High School Senior,
As the first quarter of your last year in high school comes to a close, I hope you can reflect on how fast life really goes. It probably feels like just yesterday that you had your last first day of school and started the most important year of your life. So much has already happened. Homecoming, spirit weeks, sports and so much more have already created so many memories, and although it seems impossible, there are even better ones to come.
You have so much to look forward to as a senior. Prom seems like it’s just around the corner, and your graduation date is a looming event on every calendar you own. You’ll have amazing opportunities in the next few months, such as going to your final dances, winning superlatives, and getting your yearbooks. There will be events in your honor, and you’ll finally get to feel like the top people in school. However, there will also be times of sadness, stress, and emotion.
In the next few months, you’ll have to say goodbye to friends you’ve had since elementary school. You’re going to have your senior night for sports, or perform in your final role on stage. College applications are going to have to be turned in, and final projects and exams will most likely make you cry on a daily basis. Senior year is an emotional rollercoaster, but it’s completely worth it.
Spend the next seven months of your life doing as many things as you can. Live every single day to the fullest, because life will never be the same again. Go to all the events your high school offers, even the ones that seem lame. Take pictures every time you’re with your friends, because you’ll want to remember those moments in the years to come. If you’re given an opportunity to do something incredible, jump on it. It’s the 2 a.m. diner runs and scary movie nights that you’re going to want to remember. Don’t let this year slip away from you, for it’s the most amazing time of your life.
After graduation, everything you know will change. Once you get to college, you’re forced into adulthood, and it isn’t easy. Relish these last few months as a kid. The rest of your time on this earth will be spent worrying and stressing, so don’t do it now. Applications, homework, and exams are not the end of the world.
A year from now, you’ll be in college, looking back at high school. Don’t regret the choices you made in this year. Laugh, cry, go on adventures, be a little crazy, and try to make senior year as memorable as you can.
