Dear Mother Nature...

I have some issues I would like to bring up to you...

Dear Mother Nature -

Over these past couple days I have realized that it seems like you and I are not on the same page when it comes to certain things. So here are 5 things that you need to change because it is not ok, especially during the first week of school. The first time during all semester when you have to look somewhat ok, but also walk a ton because you don't know where you are going and get lost constantly.

The humidity should not make me feel like I am in a sauna.

Giphy

Let's be honest, I do not really understand what humidity is good for but what I do know is that it actually sucks. I should not walk out of my air conditioned sanctuary and straight into a sauna or steam room. My skin should not turn tacky and my hair should grow seven times it's normal size. So please, turn it down a notch so that I can live my life outdoors.

The sun needs to turn it down a notch. Maybe five.

Giphy

Personally, I love to be out in the sun and getting my tan on but, there is a point where being outside is the same as hopping into my oven. I should not walk outside to a sun that is blaring so hard, that I feel like I need to wear sunscreen when I am sitting next to a window. So if the sun could turn it down at least 10 degrees, that would be great.

Wind is a thing. Use it please.

Giphy

If you are going to make it as hot as it is and with the humidity levels that they are, the least you could do is giving us a nice cool breeze. It would at least allow me to not feel like I will never breathe a fresh breath of air again. Or that I am taking a hot shower all day long. Having just a little breeze would let me feel happier, and then I wouldn't have to put this all on you.

Give us some shade or something...

Giphy

Yes I know that the lack of trees is definitely our fault, but maybe you could just find a way to give us some more clouds. Being in the shade legitimately makes it so much colder and allows the world to be manageable. So if you could pull some clouds into the sky I would be very happy.

Can it just be fall already?

Giphy

Honestly, I would be so much happier if it was just fall time already. I want to wear sweaters, drink warm drinks, wear my uggs and just generally be happy again. So if you could just rush summer along already and get to the best part of the year I would be very grateful.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
