Dear Mondays,

I love you. I hate you. I think it's time to DTR because I've been having mixed feelings about you. So, we need to have a talk because there are some things I have to say.

Here's the thing, it's a mob mentality cliche to hate Mondays. I understand I do it's hard to go from lazy day, do what you want weekends then jump back into the swing of thing for another week. You may be a little more tired and it may be rough to pull yourself out of bed. The day might feel longer than others and everyone else has grumpy faces on. But if I can be honest here for a second I've been harboring a secret and sitting in the closet for too long...I kind of love Mondays.

I'm so very sorry to shock and startle you all but it is very true. I'm not a morning person any day of the week but it doesn't mean I don't love a Monday. When I think about Monday I think of the promise and hope of that week. Because let's be honest if you're going to start eating healthy, going to the gym, change a habit, or pick up a new hobby then it will more than likely start on a Monday. And why is that? Monday is a promise of a new fresh start. There is no tainted cheat days or skip days yet because you are at the top of the week, you're golden and have done no wrong. I love Mondays because on Monday you can look in the mirror and set yourself up, "It is going to be a great week!" No colleges or classmates have frustrated or annoyed you yet, you filled out your planner, set out your clothes, packed your healthy lunch and gym bag, started off with some quiet time in The Bible, because on Monday you're a freaking rockstar.

But then the other days come...Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and you start to stumble and mess up. Life does happen and the rockstar you were Monday doesn't mean it will last every day. You will eat the candy bar, the day will be too hectic for the gym, an assignment will get turned in late, you will probably snap at someone, a quiet time will be forgotten about, and you may feel like that is a week in the garbage. Do not let that be the case. First off, you are human please remember to give yourself some grace. Allow mistakes and failures to only become wiser and stronger in all the things you desire to do and be. Remember any day can be a Monday, every day you wake up can be a chance for a fresh start. The Lord's faithfulness and forgiveness is new each morning, rest in the fact that you yourself are made new each morning. Make a choice to be positive. Choose to be a Monday lover choose to be a hopeful, "This is going to be a great week, a great day!" type of person.

All that to say Mondays, it's time I said it and said it loud and proud to let everyone know. Mondays, I love you.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
