Dear Mom,
As Mother's Day is approaching, I wanted to take the time to thank you for everything. First of all, thank you for bringing me into this world many years ago. I know that the sleepless nights when I didn't feel good, dealing with my temper tantrums and changing my diapers were not always the most enjoyable. I'm sorry I made your back ache when I wanted to be held and would cry if you put me down. Thank you for always calming me down when I am upset and reminding me that we are all human, and we all make mistakes. Thank you for getting me out the door on time each day, even when I refused to put clothes on. I know that I was not the easiest child to take care of, but you somehow had the patience to help me grow into who I am today.
Just when you thought the aggravating, tantrum-throwing, unappreciative childhood years were over, I became a teenager. I truly do not know how you stayed sane during those years. Thank you for loving me when I "hated you" and wanted to move out every other day. Thank you for never giving up on me, even when I was being unreasonable. You always knew what was best for me and gave me the space I needed to grow into who I needed to be. Thank you for driving me to school every day before I got my license. I still owe you for staying up late with me to help finish projects when I wouldn't start them until the night before they were due. Thank you for teaching me how to drive a car, even though you risked your life letting me get behind the wheel. I may not have seemed thankful back then, but I am beyond thankful for all of the sacrifices you have made for me and your unconditional love.
You are one of the most inspiring women I know and have given me some of the best advice I have ever received. Thank you for teaching me how to respect others. You taught me how to forgive after forgiving me numerous times. I now know to never settle for less then I deserve, which is important to living a happy life. Thank you for always encouraging me and making me a strong and independent woman, just like yourself. Thank you for loving me more than you love yourself and working around the clock at your full-time job in the office, and as a mother.
Mom, thank you for all of the things you do each and every day. They may seem to go unnoticed, but they don't. Without you, the house would be destroyed, the fridge would be empty and no one would get anywhere on time. You are one of the most selfless individuals I know who does everything you can to make me happy. Thank you for teaching me everything I know. The morals I hold, the lessons I have learned and the wonderful way I live my life is all because of you. You are not only my mother, but my best friend as well. I love you mom.
