Dear Mom, I Love You

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine.

Dear Mom, I Love You
Francesca Craven

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. So please don't take my sunshine away."

Mom, I can't begin to tell you how lucky I am to have you in my life. I know there have been times when I have aggravated you to no end, but thank you for always loving me, no matter how difficult I've been. I see more of you in me every day and I'm so lucky because I know what an incredible woman you are.

You are one of the most honest people that I know. Whether it's giving me constructive criticism during my beauty pageants or answering any question(s) that I have, I know I can count on you to tell me like it is. You tell me what I need to hear instead of what I want to hear and even though sometimes I don't like that, I realize I would rather have a mother who is straightforward with me instead of one who sugarcoats everything. Every time in my past when you've congratulated me or told me how I did something great I would always question it. Not because I don't trust you, but because I sometimes let my insecurities get the best of me. But you always have looked me in the eye and told me, "If I didn't think it was true, I wouldn't say it." I never once have not believed you.

Not only are you my mom, but you are my ultimate advice-giver. I can't even fathom how many times I have come crying to you about girl drama, how some boy broke my heart, and about every day life problems. Each time, no matter what the circumstance, you have always taken the time to talk to me about everything and to give me the best advice possible. It means so much to know that I have a mom who genuinely cares about me and all of the problems that come along with me. Please know that everything you do for me doesn't go unnoticed.

You have always pushed me to do my best. Whether it has been school, sports, activities, or jobs, you have always taught me to work hard and to never give up. Sometimes I have felt as though a lot of pressure was/is being put on me, but I know you only want what's best for me. I know there are kids out there that have a mom who doesn't really care and to know that you care so much honestly means the world to me.

I know sometimes I come off as ungrateful, but believe me, I always love all that you do for me. I know I've said countless times how I'm an adult and can do things for myself, but honestly, I'm always going to need you. At the end of the day I know I can count on you to ask me how things are going and the fact that you text me every morning, "Have a great day. I love you!", makes my heart smile. Thank you for making sure I know how much I'm loved (even on the days I'm being difficult).

You are the best mom I could ever ask for and I hope you always know that. I couldn't possibly imagine my life without you and I never want to. Thank you for always being the best you can be for me. I love you.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
