Being the oldest sibling isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you do have to be a role model for the siblings below you. Luckily, my parents stopped after two kids, so it's just my sister and I. I honestly don't know what I would do without my sister. Living a life that's three hours away from home and rarely talking to her makes me miss her like crazy. When I miss her and try to get ahold of her, it seems nearly impossible, but when I'm busy, she'll talk to me non-stop. So little sis, even though I am not always with you, remember these things:
1. Don't wear my clothes.
2. Seriously, don't wear my clothes. You think I don't know when you do, but I always will find out.
3. Copying my wardrobe won't make you into me.
4. Since you're the youngest, you can basically get away with everything (I envy you for that), so take advantage.
5. Just kidding, I'm not supposed to tell you, you can do that (you really can).
6. Even though you can get away with everything, don't do stupid things.
7. Stupid things entail: making Mom and Dad angry, making me angry, and anything I would do.
8. Don't do anything I would do...ever. If it was stupid, I probably got into trouble and wouldn't advise you to do that.
9. If someone is mean to you, let me know. I will talk some sense into them for you.
10. Tell me all of your secrets. It's no fun being left in the dark, and if you know all of mine, I should know all of yours.
11. Don't tell people my secrets (that will make me angry, refer back to No. 7).
12. Let me lay in bed with you and talk about pointless things.
13. The pointless things in life will not only keep you sane but also keep you happy.
14. Don't let a boy tell you what to do, because then I'll tell him to take a hike.
15. If anyone makes you make a decision between them or you, always pick you.
16. You and your family are the only people who will ever be completely true to you.
17. Don't hide your talents; show them to the world.
18. Do something that makes you happy with your life.
19. Never let someone tell you "no," if that's your dream.
20. Someone who makes you cry more than laugh isn't worth your time.
21. You're amazing, so make sure people know that.
22. You're everything I'm not. You and I together are a whole.
23. Have fun. Do things you wouldn't normally do, and be a kid.
24. Never stop being you (if you do, I will cry).
25. It's OK to make mistakes. Without mistakes, I wouldn't be who I am, and that's what makes us different from everyone else.
26. Never forget about me (I'm really not that far away).
27. I am always here for you....always.
With all of these reasons, I hope none of them were new to you because without you, I wouldn't be who I am today. Even though I'm only three hours away, being reunited with you will always be an amazing moment that you and I share. It's OK that we don't run towards one another, we just casually say, "Hey," when I walk in the door, but that's what you and I do, that's who you and I are. And although we argue a lot when I'm home, we argue because we love one another, and I wouldn't want our relationship any other way. Just please please please call me, text me, or FaceTime me when you need something. I will always be here for you, little sis.
