Dear Future Transfer,
Don't freak out so much, the main thing to remember. University is different but it's not a dramatic change.
You really get creative about how you want to decorate your room or apartment.
Community college may be all that you've had for your college experience, but it is different than how a university will be.
You can get the experience and level up to a degree that will help you in the long run. It's not bad to start out in community college.
Coming to a university is like coming to a whole new world. You are exposed to more, life away from home is crazy the first few weeks.
You really do meet friends for life.
Studying at 2 in the morning is early. Don't even doubt that.
All-nighters are also common, get you some chips and a soda and be ready to knock out that essay or cram that chem test.
No judgment for sleeping in the quad on a nice day. We feel you.
You can change your major so many times, and no one will be mad. It's normal and worth it if you end up happy.
You will always have chances to do better.
More freedom.
You get the experience of doing actual adult things... laundry, cooking, basically everything you didn't at home.
You make your own decisions good and bad. But you also learn from them and grow to be the person you are meant to become.
The extra groups you can join can change your life.
No shame in wearing a bed shirt and sweatpants to all of your classes in the middle of the week.
Really getting a hold on how to budget money. (Something no one really learned before.)
Making college the best you can make it.
No matter what happens when you transfer, it will all be worth the pain, the exhaustion, and the amazing memories to come to university. The degree is a major life changing moment but the memories are worth more than you can imagine.
