Dear FSU Graduates, Thanks For Inspiring Me

Dear graduates,

First of all, congratulations! You made it through 4(ish) years of crazy classes that I cannot begin to imagine. You also made my first semester at Florida State University amazing. Thank you for being the leaders and mentors that guided me through this first semester.

You have given me a reason to strive to be the best that I can be. The campus organizations would not be where they are without you striving to improve what didn't work and build upon what did. I am now seeing the results of the years you put into this university and its programs, and that makes me excited to build upon what you have left behind. Lin Manuel-Miranda says that legacy is planting seeds in a garden you never get to see, but I will see it. I will help it grow and flourish, and in that time, I will plant seeds of my own, just like you have.

You have all inspired me to be a leader, not a follower. To lead the next class that walks through the gates of FSU and to inspire them to pass down the lessons you have passed down to me. Watching the leadership in Chiefs has made me want to become a leader myself. You all have also encouraged me to get involved and be an active member of Florida State. If I ever asked whether or not I should pursue something, you would say "why not?" If I ever asked for help, you gave it with enthusiasm.

I wish you luck in your future careers and maybe I'll even see some of you in the future. Just know that you have made a huge impact on me and my world view. You all have helped me realize what I can achieve in such a large community. At first, entering college was a daunting task, but with the help of third and fourth-years, it was so much easier than I thought it could be. So now, you have passed that torch to me, and I accept it with open arms.

Sincerely,

Brenna

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
