Dear froomie (freshman roomie, duh),

First and foremost, thank you for being you. I’m so lucky to have met you.

Reaching out to someone on Facebook Messenger to try and room with them is a super scary and risky thing to do. I am lucky enough to have picked the right girl to reach out to.

I remember move-in day and all the craziness and nerves about the unknown semester. From that day on, you have stuck by my side.

Right when I met you I knew we would get along. What I didn’t realize, however, that my roommate was going to turn into my best friend.

You were there through it all; the laughing, the crying, the stressing, and everything in between. There is no one else I’d rather belt Broadway songs with at midnight instead of doing homework. There is no else I’d rather vent all my insignificant issues to. There is no one else I’d rather go get chocolate covered strawberries with. There is no one else I’d rather scream at when my alarm went off (sorry about that one). There is no one else I’d rather have as my freshman roomie.

I’m so glad we were able to help each other out in every way. You always had a solution to my problems, and I hope I helped you a lot too. We were able to use our strengths to help the others’ weaknesses, and I think that is something really special.

Thank you for always being a positive light in my day. Even if I was having a hard day, your smile and positive energy always boosted my mood. I’ve never met someone who is so amazingly enthusiastic and I really admire that about you.

You were always there for me. Whether it be someone to talk to, someone to get food with me, or anything else, I knew I could count on you.

Thank you for the Oreos, brownies, Starbucks, Doritos, and more. You supported me in my quest for the Freshman 15 and I can never repay you for that.

Thank you for showing me how amazing Trader Joe's is. In the larger scheme of things, thank you for showing me the beauty in the little things.

I will always cherish every funny moment in our dorm room, from reading the creepy text messages to our many dance parties. And I can’t forget to mention the sign on the door.

Thank you for documenting the many hilarious moments of the semester that we can cherish forever. However, as a result of our adventures, you have a lot of things to blackmail me with. I trust that those will remain a private matter, especially because I am writing you this letter. :)

It is safe to say that we’ve seen each other at our best and worst. We came out stronger in the end and you love me as much as I love you (or so you say ;)).

Thanks for being my froomie, my best friend, and my favorite person.

Love,

Lindsey

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
