This is for the man who made me who I am today. The man who molded me into the women I am supposed to be. The man who never gave up on me and never will. This is for my father.
Dear Father,
From the moment I was born you loved me. You didn’t even know me. You didn’t know who I was going to become or what I was meant to do in this life, but you loved me. You loved every inch of me. You saw me and fell in love with me. My little toes and my tiny fingers warmed your heart. Little did you know I loved you back, just as much.
I cannot imagine my life without a father like you. Growing up you held me close. You’ve taught so many things other fathers’ never taught their daughters. If you are not going to do it right, then do not do it. You taught me discipline. You told me things don’t come to those who don’t work for them.
You protected me from all the bad. You have shown me what a man is supposed to be. A man is strong. A man is patient. A man cares for his family. A man never gives up on his family. These things are wonderful.
I didn't know perfect could exist, but to me, you are perfect. You are my first love. I respect you. I cherish our relationship. You are my best friend. Our conversations are endless. I feel comfortable and content when I am with you. I have received endless love from you.
I now know what to look for in a husband. I know how he should treat his wife, his children, and himself. You are a man of Christ. You are a Son of God. You know your worth and who you are. This has taught me so many things. It has made me love myself and know my own worth as a woman.
There is not one person on this earth that could ever take your place, that could ever love me more, or that could ever love you more. Thank you for being at every game, every practice, every lesson for every sport I’ve ever played. Your support for me has taught me so much and is more than appreciated. Thank you for being patient, kind, and lovable even when it is hard, and strong even when you feel weak.
I thank my God every day for you. I am lucky. I am blessed. I am fortunate. I am endlessly thankful for a father like you. I love you dad, more than you’ll ever know.
Your Daughter
