To the old girls, the pledge class of Fall 2013.
You're going Alum, in just a couple of days. How?
This year has flown by. It seems like just yesterday, I was sitting in Chick-Fil-A with the Marvelous Mu's, my recruitment group, talking to our Rho Chi about what to expect in recruitment - and here we are. From being so nervous about going through recruitment, to having to stand and watch the girls that went from strangers to sisters, from sisters to role models, end their years as a collegiate member of Kappa Delta.
You all have taught me so much. You all have given me so much. Out of all of the members in our chapter, you girls have been here the longest. You have the most memories through Kappa Delta, and you are the most familiar with our handbook and rituals. I have learned so much from you all, but I wish I had time to learn more. I know that you all have done your 4 years, and you're ready to give your bittersweet goodbye to the collegiate world and hello to the alum world, but I am really going to miss you all.
I hope that the rest of us continue to make you all proud. I hope that you can look at our chapter in a couple of years and be proud to say you were a part of it. I hope that we teach the new girls as well as you taught us, and ten or twenty years down the road you can attend a meeting and tell them how proud you are, still.
You all have taught me more than handbook and ritual. You have lived out AOT and shown me true sisterhood. You have shown me what a love and respect for our sorority looks like. You have shown me what it looks like to lead your life in ways that are honorable, beautiful and highest.
Most of all, your pledge class has given me my best friend. In Fall 13, I found the one that made me thoroughly think about my decision during recruitment, and ultimately choose Kappa Delta or no one. I found the one who's arms I ran into on Bid Day. I found the one who's family tree I would join. I found the one who would open not only her arms, but her home and her family to me as well. I found the one to take road trips with, to Panic! with, to literally panic with, to tell my life story to. I found the one that is my mom, my sister, my best friend, all in one. Fall 13 gave me my person. I can never thank you enough.
May your days all be bright ones, may your cares all be light ones, tonight as moonlight beams.
Goodbye, Fall 13. Sending you all my love in AOT. ♥
