Abuelo, Porque? (Grandpa, Why?)

At 6 years old, you left me.

You left me, with so many questions.

Questions I shouldn't ask.

Asking leads to knowing information, that can hurt me.

Instead, you hurt mi abuela.

Abuela had your 7 kids. Kids that grew up just like you.

A bad example of you.

Why did you always drink?

Drank more alcohol, than one should with water.

Water is what came from my abuelas eyes.

Her eyes held fear.

Fear of leaving you or fear of leaving the kids without a father?

Yes you were a good father and a great abuelo.

You were a great abuelo but not a good husband.

A good husband does not beat their wife.

A good husband should not assume that your wife is having an affair.

A good husband should cherish and love their wife.

A good husband should respect their wife.

A good husband should be loyal.

Loyal is the key.

The key to happiness.

Happiness is what Abuela never had.

Abuelo, porque?

Porque, mi abuela.

Did you hate her?

Did she have too many kids?

Was she too good for you?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.
