Dear 8AM's

I'm sorry that people do bad things like this, especially to good people, like you.

Dear 8am's,

You suck.

Now, if that were all I could write, I think those two words would do this letter a lot of justice. But, since I cannot.. let's try this again.

Dear 8am's,

I want to like you, I really do, but you make it so hard. I feel like I have to peel myself out of bed in the morning just to make it to class on time. Now, believe it or not, I actually can be a morning person if need be. I do not wake up grumpy, I can jump right out of bed if I have to.. but if that is going to happen, it has to be for something more exciting than class. Rise and Shine!!!

Deny all you want, but I know all of you college students are guilty of pushing off studying the night before a test, to cram it all in your brain the hour before. You (8am's) completely deprive us of that option, forcing us to study the night before, I mean.. how dare you?!

Now, to my Professor-

So, I did it. I got out of bed, got ready and made it to class 5 minutes early -- it's a good day. Then you come in and ask the class a question that no one knows the answer to. Your response is "If you aren't going to participate, why are you even here? If you don't want to be here, just leave!" It takes everything in me not to just walk out and go back to bed. But, the hard part (waking up) is over. And I mean, I am already here, so I might as well stay.. right? The truth of the matter is, that I really don't want to be here. I just have to be here. This class is a requirement for my major and well.. this was the only time it was offered. I would rather just get it over with.

For the people who mistake 8am's as fashion shows-
Good for you, really. I wish I could wake up at 7:15 a.m. throw together a cute outfit, have time to do my hair, and throw on some make up. But, I can't. In fact, I'm lucky if I am able to look cute for a 1:00 p.m. class. Also, if you have a roommate who doesn't have to be up for an 8 a.m. HOW do you get ready like that in the dark?!

I guess it isn't fair to be totally negative. Waking up early does correlate to better grades, so you do have that going for you. Plus, being that I have to be up early, usually means my day ends fairly early also. It's also pretty rare that someone will get a career in which they can start their day later than 9 a.m. so I guess you're beneficial for the real world also (sh, it wasn't me). 8 a.m. classes are usually never full, sooo if you're scrambling to fit in a mandatory class, it's usually safe to say there's an opening. Early classes are usually smaller, so for some people that means less human interaction, for others it means your professor might actually know your name.

So, take from this article what you will -- either the positive or the negative. I will be avoiding 8 a.m. classes at all costs.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
