Dear 2018 self,

2017 was a crazy year for you. So many things happened that shaped you into the person that will be going into 2018. Some very small things and some very big things came your way and rocked your world and you still handled it like a champ.

Of course, some things took a bit longer to figure out, but you still did it, and it's because of those moments that you are so strong for this brand new year full of future good and bad moments. I know that you will be able to get through whatever comes your way.

2018 is going to be a huge year for your career. It's going to be the first official year of your career. This is going to be a huge growth year for you, you're going to learn so many new things and new techniques and sometimes it's going to be overwhelming and you're going to feel like what you're doing isn't meant for you, but it is.

You are so good at what you do, but you're too hard on yourself sometimes when you make a mistake. So this year I want you to go easier on yourself, remember that you're still learning, and it's okay to make mistakes because it means you're trying; you're attempting something new. And it's okay to not do everything perfectly the first time.

2018 is also the year you're finally going to move out of your parent's house. I know you've tried a few times in the past and none of them have worked out, but this year, it's really going to happen. It's going to be stressful and scary but it's going to be exactly what you need.

Just don't forget to enjoy the first half of this year while you're still living with your family. Take advantage of them still being right next door. Try not to be in your room so much either; you're going to have plenty of you-time at the end of this year. Living by yourself is going to bring on a whole new set of responsibilities, but you got this girl. You know what you're doing, and if not, it's a good thing your parents are only a phone call away.

2018 is going to be a year full of happiness. Don't be afraid to let new people in and don't be afraid to let your guard down. In 2017, you had your heart broken the worst it's ever been and right now, you don't want to let anyone in and that's okay. But you have your walls built high and your guard up; just don't be scared to fall in love if it comes. Remember that you are capable of being loved, you deserve love, and you deserve to be so, so happy.

But don't settle for anything less than what you deserve. Don't settle if it isn't convenient for your lifestyle and don't give up any part of you to be with someone. Most importantly, don't lose yourself. In 2017, you learned a lot about yourself, you became comfortable with yourself, and in 2018 you're going to learn even more! I'm excited to learn all about 2018 you!

2018 is going to be a year where you go with the flow. Stop wanting to be in control of everything and just let things happen. No matter what, everything will work out in the end. So just breathe and like The Beatles said, "Let It Be."

I hope 2018 is everything you want it to be and more, but also, even if it isn't, I'll still see you in 2019 and you'll be even stronger and probably cooler than 2017 me and 2018 you.

P.S. Don't go too crazy on our 21st, drink water and stay with a buddy, but most importantly, have fun!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
