We've all had that crazy week where everything is scheduled one thing after another. The sad fact of college is that that is always going to be the case, and there is nothing we can do about it. With that being said, how can we truly prepare ourselves so that those crazy weeks seem somewhat manageable?
First, make sure you work on things ahead of time. Teachers give students all of their assignments and test days ahead of time for a reason. Of course you would rather binge watch Netflix on your off week, but the truth is if you want to survive those next few weeks of insanity, you need to be working on things far in advance. No one wants to be pulling an all-nighter hours before a huge test if they've had six days in a row that they could've been using to study. As much as I love to procrastinate, I've quickly learned that it doesn't mix well with multiple tests and papers being due all at the same time.
As much as I hate to say this, don't be afraid to pass on social functions. Obviously college isn't only about school work, but the bottom line is that many students often forget that we are in college to get a degree and that should be our first priority. As a part of the Greek community, we have an even bigger responsibility to represent our organizations well, and that means getting good grades. There will always be another date party or swap, but you may only have two tests in a class to make up your final grade for the entire semester. Obviously missing a function isn't fun, but being on academic probation when you don't make grades for the semester is even worse.
The main thing to always keep in mind is to stay calm and don't let stress get the best of you. If you have a packed schedule with a to-do list that seems to run on for miles, stressing about everything is probably the worst thing you could do. It doesn't accomplish things any faster, and if anything it only makes you feel even more terrible about your situation than you already did. Worrying about everything won't get any of it done, whereas just diving right into the mountain of assignments is the only way you can start checking things off.
I know all of this is easier said than done, but now that the semester is starting to come to an end, it's crunch time. Dealing with a busy week is all about balance and time management; all of the work will only better prepare you for the real world.
