“Dead by Daylight”. If you've played it, you know it’s a great game, but also has VERY frustrating moments, and you'll certainly agree with a lot of what I have to say. If you have yet to play
“Dead by Daylight” is a fun game that you can play alone or with friends, where there are four survivors, and one killer. It lets you release your inner "I love terrifying my friends (or random strangers) persona, or the "I love escape type games, that can require teamwork or deception instead" persona. The
Like I said earlier, you can play “Dead by Daylight” solo, or with friends. This is nice because if your friends have conflicting schedules, or maybe some of them aren't super into being scared and the adrenaline rush that comes with this game, then you can go ahead and run around killing people solo, but also terrify (or work with, if you're a Survivor) your friends if you like. Which, at least for me, is always fun, either way. Another great thing about the game is that while it's a multiplayer horror game, it has an external story, as in every killer (currently the Nurse, the Wraith, the Trapper, and the Hillbilly) all have their own backstories, and so do all of the survivors. It may not explain it to you in game, per say, or be totally included in the game play, but it IS cool to think that they each have a reason for why they are where they are at the time. It adds a little flair to this game, as opposed to a game like Dead Realm (which had a boom of playing for a short period, then the servers sort of declined and there was not a lot more playing from there) that just has the different characters without backstory/lore, which makes it feel like it has less of a purpose. Everything has a story, from the locations on the map to the killers, to the survivors, It just has a personal vibe. Further in the positives, the atmosphere of the game as a whole delivers its purpose well. You play the game as the Survivor on edge, watching for a skill check, and carefully listening for an increase in heartbeat and music of the killer (Sound is crucial in this game, so play with headphones for best experience), or chase around said Survivors, fueled with the joy and adrenaline.
Having spoken about some of the game's positives, I will say, it definitely has its’ negatives. For example, the game will freeze or crash randomly sometimes, even if the machine you're running it on is perfectly up to standards (or surpassing it) for playing. It has some real bugs, but they're always working on them, releasing updates (along with new content, which is also a positive) to fix said issues. But that doesn't mean it isn't frustrating. In addition, the waiting time for a game can be quite some time before you do get into a game. Sometimes all people want to do is play Survivor, so if your current mood is to play Survivor, it may be a bit of a wait time. If you play the Killer, there isn't typically a long wait time, but it can occasionally happen.
Overall though, despite some wait times that can be annoyingly long, or some freezing/crashing, it is a fantastic game to play. You don't even need to rely on just me to believe that. Game Informer's 281st issue (September 2016) gave it an 8.25 out of 10, saying it's "A nightmare we're glad never ends" to which I think most people can agree. Especially if you can round up the friends to play it with. Playing it with friends makes it all the better. And the best part, it's actually relatively inexpensive, costing only $19.99(€18.21), so it's well worth the purchase. It was previously only available on
So if you were debating getting this game or passing on it, I'm here to tell you it's definitely a fun game to play, especially if you're a horror fan, so you should strongly consider it. It gives you a thrill of the chase when you play as the killer, and the rush of fear when playing as the survivor.
