The night before St. Patrick’s Day is like the night before Christmas for the students in Dayton, Ohio. Everyone goes to bed extremely early to be woken up by bagpipes that can be heard throughout campus. It is everyone’s favorite day of the year for these reasons and so many more:
1. You can collect so much green apparel.
There is always an organization selling a cool green t-shirt or tank top that you can purchase to gear up for the big day.You can never have too much St. Patrick's Day clothes.
2. There is free food on campus.
There’s always someone selling pancakes for breakfast or food trucks in the student neighborhood. You can eat endless amounts of free food all day and not feel guilty about it.
3. Everyone is in such a great mood.
From the time you wake up until the time you go bed, everyone has a smile on his or her face. People are always nicer on this holiday because they are all so happy to be attending this school.
4. It doesn’t matter if you’re not even Irish -- no judgments.
No matter what your background is, everyone has a reason to celebrate this holiday.You get to pretend to be Irish for the day.
5. You eat, sleep, and dream green.
It doesn’t even matter if green isn’t your favorite color, everything you do has to relate to the color green on this particular day.By the end of the day, you won't want to see green for while.
6. Everyone comes together to hang out.
You get to see the people that you may never see throughout the week at this huge hang out session. The ongoing celebration allows you to catch up with friends and celebrate the Irish heritage.
7. The sun is always shining.
Rain or shine, everyone is happy to attend this university and spends all day outside.
8. You feel lucky all day.
With high hopes that maybe something lucky will happen to you all day, this holiday will have you jumping for joy and kicking your feet for the Irish.
9. You get to wear fun accessories.
Beads, temporary tattoos, red beards, fun hats, etc. There are so many ways to enhance your St. Patty’s day outfit.
10. Participating in Irish jigs and songs.
All the singing and dancing will have you pepped up and ready to celebrate in no time. The Irish songs and dancing will have you up and your feet ready to celebrate everyones favorite holiday.
