The Awesome Foundation

You're stressed. All you need to do is dance and sing it out.

Trust me, it'll be amazing.

1. "Shut Up and Dance" -- WALK THE MOON

With their 80s sound and hopping beats, why would you want to sit around while this is playing? "Shut Up and Dance" was the leading hit single for 24 weeks on Billboard's Hot Rock Songs.

2. "Freedom" -- Pharrell Williams

Although I was just introduced to this song a few weeks back, this is a song that has some great rhythms that'll keep you engaged and be singing it all day. Pharrell Williams dedicated this song to all the refugees fleeing Europe and believes that America should allow them to enter into freedom.

3. "Miracles" -- Coldplay

While this is not necessarily a "get up and dance" song, it allows me to close my eyes and let every stressful thing go. "Miracles" was written for "Unbroken," book written by Laura Hildenbrand and film directed and adapted by Angelina Jolie, which tells the story of Louis Zamperini and all the unfortunate obstacles he kept running into in his youth and WWII. (Side note: go read that book.)

4. "Stay the Night" -- Zedd ft. Hayley Williams

Get all your energy out with this song. When I was studying in France, this song became my jam when I would walk back to the dorm, with the perfect combination of Zedd and Hayley Williams, it was so easy to just start jumping around and easily to sing-a-long with.

5. "Alors on Danse" -- Stromae ft. Kayne West

This remix is amazing. I love the original, but when I'm with friends who don't understand French, the remix is great to throw on because not only does Stromae have amazing beats, the added bonus of Kayne West really makes me want to throw my hands into the sky.

6. "Roses" -- The Chainsmokers, ft ROZES

First off I was not impressed with their first single "#SELFIE" which hit No. 16 in 2014, but I'm thoroughly impressed with "Roses" especially the Zaxx remix. In the original it's one of those songs that would go perfectly with a slo-mo scene; it's also a great shower song. The remix takes the song and speeds up the tempo.

7. "Happy Hours" -- John De Sohn, Sigrid Bernson

This song was released on Dec. 31, 2015, so it's quite new. In those stressful moments, this song really makes me feel like it's going to be okay.

8. "Can't Hold Us" -- Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, ft Ray Dalton

Whether you like him or not, you can't deny your foot tapping or head bobbing or trying to rap. This song lifts a bad mood -- even just for a few minutes.

Also, go listen to Walla Walla University's remix ...it's pretty awesome. (Side note: I was apart of it, but I was behind the dragon and behind a sign in the big overhead shot. I'm a natural at being hidden.)

9. "Clarity - Tiesto Remix" -- Zedd, Foxes

I love this song. Anytime I hear the song, I can't help but start dancing even if it's just head bobbing. A lot of Tiesto's remixes can be hit or miss, but I almost like the remix better than the original.

10. "Die Young" -- Ke$ha

Honestly, anything Ke$ha gets me moving and they're great car songs to belt out. My brother and I would use to always blast it while we were driving around.

11. "Anything Can Happen" -- Ellie Goulding

Okay, no lie this use to be my ringtone, that's how much I love this song. This song gets you moving and wanting to go take chances.

12. "A Sky Full of Stars" -- Coldplay

A lot of people were hit and miss with this album because Coldplay moved from their usual sounds, but I love this song and the video.

13. "Geronimo" -- Sheppard

Just from the beginning the beat gets you moving. It'll get you saying Geronimo.

14. "Stolen Dance" -- Milky Chance

This is one of those really keep you moving forward songs. The beat just keeps you focused on what you're doing.

15. "Rather Be" -- Clean Bandit ft. Jess Glynne

This song is hard not to start singing along with and the strings add to the electronic beats and bass. I'm always moving when this song comes on.

16. "Counting Stars" -- OneRepublic

Okay, so this song may be overplayed, but it reminds me of France and my travels so I will add this song because it makes me happy. However, you can't deny it's a good song.

17. "I Lived" -- OneRepbulic

This song is my favorite from their album, Native. I don't really like the music video, only because it stops in the middle of my groove but definitely watch the video. I LOVE THIS SONG. It makes me want to go push my limits so I don't regret anything.

18. "I Bet My Life" -- Imagine Dragons

Imagine Dragons have some really good songs, but this song just really makes me happy. It's almost like "I Lived" by OneRepublic, it has the urge to make you want to go out and do something with your life.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
