We have all heard of organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund whose mission is to raise money in order to save and protect wildlife. Today, animal populations are disappearing at an alarming rate, but why should we care? Extinction is a process that has been occurring since creation.
Typically these species are replaced through a process called speciation. Through this process new species are supposed to develop at the same rate as those species that are becoming extinct. However, due to pollution and other man-created changes in the environment, species are becoming extinct at greater rates than they are being created.
Every species that is lost lowers the diversity of earth. Every species is interconnected and the more effort that is put into saving these beautiful creatures, the better the planet becomes as a whole.
