Ever just have the feeling you need to cry? Stress is in major overload this time of year, so emotions run high. A lot of people don't like to cry, but I find it helps relieve stress like nothing else. So grab a box of tissues and your favorite comfort snacks. Crawl under a ton of blankets with your favorite teddy and just let it out! Here are eight of my go-to cry fest movies.
1. Titanic
Being my number one favorite movie of all time, it helps that its a tearjerker as well. Granted, I can now quote the movie better than the actors, but it still does the job. It's not even Jack dying that gets me. It's the older Rose's storytelling.
2. Armageddon
Here is a movie I never thought I would be that into. But once I finally sat down and watched it, it immediately went on my cry fest playlist. Nothing more tear worthy than a deep, and tragic, heroic daddy/daughter goodbye.
3. Pearl Harbor
Maybe it's just a Ben Affleck thing considering he also starred in number two on my list. Either way, this is also a major tearjerker. I am not a fan of military movies, but throw a good love triangle in the plot and it changes everything!
4. 8 Seconds
Taking a completely different direction from military and spacemen, this movie is all about the cowboys. Following the true story of a famous bull rider, Lane Frost, this movie has it all -- action, romance and tragedy fully enveloping all the feels.
5. Man in the Moon
Introducing Reese Witherspoon, this coming of age movie was the first for the "Legally Blonde" actress. Playing a 14-year-old girl who falls in love for the first time. Here we go with another love triangle and a tragic ending. Sure to bring back those first love memories and just hit you in the heart.
6. Step Mom
Although there are some crazy, funny moments and happy heartwarming ones, too, it still brings the tears. It is about a mom dying of cancer after all. Talk about sad endings.
7. The Green Mile
This one makes me think back to junior year of high school, reading Of Mice and Men. Actually when reading that book, I always pictured Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan.
8. Beaches
And lastly on my cry fest playlist, we have a Bette Midler classic. Alongside Barbra Hershey, the dynamic best friends tackle life from two different worlds, always managing to catch back up with each other until one day the two worlds fuse permanently for devastating reasons.
FYI number eight was recently remade for Lifetime with Broadway star (Queen Elsa) Idina Menzel.
So there you have it. An eight movie long playlist of cry your eyes out movies to melt the stress away. Don't forget your tissues if you are planning to partake in cry fest!
