I asked and you answered

Crowdsourced Blogging Fall 2016 Edition
Emily Sto

This week I have drawing a blank.

I have contemplated a few topics, tried to flesh out one in particular about female friendships.

I crowdsourced and asked my social media friends what I should write about, what they wanted to hear discussed….

The results….

“Breakfast Sandwiches without Egg”

“Fruit Loops but only the blue ones”

“No foam lattes”

“Collaborative writing with sister wives”

“Biscuit or roll?”

“Why is all clothing for fat people ugly?”

(among many other fantastic suggestions)

Because I am at a loss in this moment for words and because I think it will be amusing, I will be addressing these topics and questions.

“Breakfast Sandwiches without Egg”

Now, this topic is very near to my heart, because I adore breakfast sandwiches. It is one of the very few things that I can cook, and I pride myself on my ability to craft them fairly well. I would say that a breakfast sandwich without egg is like eating breakfast at 10:45 am. It can still mildly fit the definition, but it honestly becomes something different. As breakfast at 10:45am becomes brunch, I believe that that breakfast sandwiches without egg become simply sandwiches.

“Fruit Loops but only the blue ones”

I am not a Fruit Loop fan, but if that is what you are passionate about then rock on. I cannot judge because I am the person that thinks Lucky Charms and chocolate milk is a good idea.

“No foam lattes”

I truthfully had to look this up because I was unsure what it meant. To my understanding, it means that the barista making your drink makes a conscious effort to leave the little bit of foam that the steamed milk creates out of your beverage. Honestly, I do not have an opinion, because I am a coffee addict that judges not.

“Collaborative writing with sister wives”

Sister Wives is typically defined as the TLC show, but in my circle, it is defined as the female friend group that my mom is a part of. They are a group of ladies that love each other fiercely and have adopted each other as their own. They love their significant others but are not defined by them. They are loud and they are beautiful and I am proud to call them family.

“Biscuit or roll?”

Biscuit all the way, my friend. NEXT!

“Why is all clothing for fat people ugly?”

I despise the fact that unfortunately that often is the case. Women come in all shapes and sizes and to choose one body as the “ideal” not only is demeaning, but it means that designers often only dress for that body type. There are a few stores that understand the idea that fashion should extend to all size bodies, such as Torrid and Forever21. Unfortunately, these are the only stories that come to mind, because often the clothing that is designed to flatter the bodies of women of all sizes are often private owned and operated lines. The fashion industry has a long way to go before they are accurately reflecting and crafting for the women in society.

And that, my friend, concludes our first ever crowdsourced blog post. Much thanks and love to G., D., S., and J. for their topic help and providing much laughter.

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.
