For those of you who have yet to watch 'Criminal Minds', one of the best crime series, or
just have no interest, you're honestly missing out. 'Criminal Minds' is not for the faint-heart, or easily scared, but if you're looking for a good life lesson, it may be just the show. 'Criminal Minds,' which has been on air for approximately eleven seasons, and has some pretty heartfelt, significant, powerful quotes, and just for that viewers cannot get enough. As viewers are aware, the show opens and closes with quotes read by the cast from famous authors, theorists, actors, and etc.
My favorite quotes from the show almost always happen to be read by Dr. Reid (aka. the handsome Matthew Gray Gubler). Here's a few quotes, that I consider some of the best:
1. "Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."- Albert Einstein. Read by Agent Gideon in season one, episode two.
Imagination is something many with knowledge lack. Imagination can take you anywhere, and make you anything. If you imagine it, it's possible.
2. "In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."- Abraham Lincoln. Read by Agent Elle in season one, episode sixteen.
You only get one life to live. I believe to live your life to the fullest, you must rely on your happiness rather than your success otherwise you may forget to live.
3. "I didn't have anything against them, and they never did anything wrong to me, the way other people have all my life. Maybe they're just the ones who have to pay for it."- Perry Smith. Read by Agent Gideon in season two, episode fourteen.
This is one of my favorites quotes from the show because of the significant background. Perry Smith was known for his role in the Clutter family slaughter that was made popular by the novel, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote.
4. "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do."- Eleanor Roosevelt. Read by Agent Hotch in season three, episode three.
There is plenty experiences in life to fear, and facing those fears makes the experience worthwhile. Conquering your fears is perhaps one of the greatest pleasures in life.
5. “We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.”- Chuck Palahniuk. Read by Agent Hotch in season four, episode one.
Palahniuk is, in my opinion, one of the greatest authors ever. My reason for selecting this quote is that it's the harsh reality we all choose so carelessly to ignore: we all die. We all die, we may not do everything is this lifetime that we had hope for, but hopefully we will do enough.
6. "And so, all the night-tide, I lay down by the side. Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride. In the sepulchre there by the sea. In her tomb by the sounding sea."- Edgar Allen Poe. Read by Agent JJ in season four, episode fourteen.
This is a quote from one of my favorite poems by Edgar Allen Poe titled 'Annabel Lee' in which Poe writes about the lost of the love of his life.
7. "Monsters are real, and ghosts are real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win."- Stephen King. Read by Agent Hotch in season four, episode twenty.
Another great author, being honest.
8. "Life is a game, play it....Life is too precious, do not destroy it."- Mother Theresa. Read by Agent JJ in season five, episode thirteen.
Basically don't waste your life, it could be taken away at any second. Don't play God, but don't cheat death.
9. "All things truly wicked start from an innocence."- Ernest Hemingway. Read by Agent Rossi in season seven, episode five.
Of course there are plenty more amazing and insightful quotes from this wonderful show, you can read some more here. If you haven't considered watching the show at least once after reading these quotes, at least to see how the incorporate them, then I haven't done my job. 'Criminal Minds' gives you "food for thought" and then leaves you hungry.
