Thanksgiving is the holiday where all the family members come together from all over the country for the day to celebrate and catch up on each other’s lives. If you are like my family, you stay the whole week together making memories that honestly we would sometimes like to forget. Besides that Thanksgiving is filled with many fun, unforgettable memories that can be a little crazy, but some of the crazy things that happen, happen within most families. Here are six crazy things that happen on Thanksgiving with a little story about my family experiences.

1.) You ALWAYS have a drink spill!

I can’t even begin to tell you about how many drink spills happen in the course of this week. One Thanksgiving, my cousins and I were playing Pictionary and one of them got way into the game and spilled her glass of wine all over me. Let’s just say I never sat beside her again during board games.

2.) The crazy competitive family games.

Words cannot describe how competitive the Manning family is. Like it ruins relationships. I mean everyone has that one family member who gets out of control and don’t get me started about when they lose. By losing, I am talking about quitting the game halfway through, screaming at your teammates, and even making your teammates quit. Imagine that one family member and place it on half of my family playing the game, it gets a little tense.

3.) Taking a billion pictures

When you have a big family, you never get a good picture where everyone is smiling at the camera. It is complete chaos to take pictures and it takes longer than it should. Everyone smile!

4.) An unexpected guest.

My aunt has a chicken that loves to come in the house and be around people, but it went too far one year and almost jumped in the fireplace. Before it could, my aunt did some voodoo magic to coax the chicken away from the fireplace. Later she caught the chicken and placed it back outside and ever since then we have called her the chicken whisperer.

5.) Over 20 people together all in one house

When people talk about being in a big family, I really don’t think they understand the struggle of a BIG family. If you do, welcome to the club. My family lives all across the North Eastern coastal states and we all spend a week in my aunt’s house, so approximately 20-31 people altogether with very strong personalities. People from the North tend to be strong willed.

6.) Black Friday Shopping

I don’t know about your family, but we love to wake up around 3 in the morning to go Black Friday Shopping. As a side story, last year when we were all shopping, my cousin had an accident. When she went to sit down everyone heard a huge tear sound and we found out that her pants ripped right now the middle. We had to give her a clothing item that was a gift for someone else to cover her backside. Each time she walked the pants ripped centimeter by centimeter, so we ended up leaving because she was about to lose her pants completely.

No one can get past one Thanksgiving without experiencing one of these crazy events in your own way. A family is definitely the craziest portion of your life, but honestly, how could you live without them? I love my family a lot and if you think we are bad over the Thanksgiving Holiday, you should see us during the off holiday season. Feel free to share some of your holiday fun stories that you had with your family in the comments section below. Happy Thanksgiving!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
