If you know me you might recall my love for music. I’m always singing (badly) and I have a habit of putting new songs I fall in love with on repeat. Music. It’s how I get through long days and daunting tasks. I guarantee that there’s a song for any type of day you might be having and emotion you feel.
Here’s 10 songs to match your feels.
1. "Candyman" – Zedd featuring Aloe Blacc
This song is great for when you’re walking to class and you’re feeling like nothing can ruin your day. I recommend this song for when you’re getting ready to start your day or decompressing from a long day. My favorite line: “Walking through my past life, where the days are full of joy”. I hope this song makes you feel just as good.
2. "Victorious" – Panic! at the Disco
Some days we wake up on the wrong side of the bed, it happens. We don’t feel as awesome as we know ourselves to be. Days like these can be scary. In order to break out of this mood, I suggest some Panic! at the Disco. There is nothing like Brandon Urie’s vocal range. The song “Victorious” gives you just the boost you need to crank up the awesome. It’s also the perfect song for when your friends are begging you to get out of bed and party. My favorite line-- “until we feel alright," Brandon Urie’s open invitation to jam out until you’re no longer in your rut.
3. "Feels" – Kiiara
Kiiara is my newest obsession, she knows how I feel. Pun intended. There are times when you think you might start sobbing if you someone even looks at you for too long. You’ll have days when all your emotions try to burst out of your chest and you can’t tell them apart. The song “Feels” has you covered. My favorite line: “And I got way too many feels, way too much emotions I don’t even know what’s real, I say F (bad word) it, keep on going”. One of my highschool teachers would always say “Take a moment, your moment it over," I agree with Mrs. Evans, when the song ends, so should your pity party. Keep it moving sunshine.
4. "Hold" - Vera Blue
If you have a bit of a temper, this one is for you. This song by the lovely Vera Blue is for those times when you want to rip someone’s head off. Or if you’re like me, they’re for the times when the Wi-Fi decides you’re unworthy or your article doesn’t save :) instead of decapitating our loved ones or sending your laptop on a flight. Listen to Hold while taking a couple of deep breaths and maybe letting those angry tears out. My favorite line: “I can be young and reckless." The key is to choose not to.
5. "Even When it Hurts" – Hillsong United
When I’m sick or having a bad day, I’d much rather climb into bed than go to work or class. I’m sure someone can agree with me. I believe those are the days when you need music the most. Even if you’re not religious, Hillsong united’s “Even When it Hurts” is an amazing song to remind you that on those days especially the world isn’t going to stop turning because Kira doesn’t feel well. It’s also a great reminder that on those days you should stay positive, even when nothing is going right remain the best you. My favorite line: “even when I have no song”, because sometimes you don’t feel like singing but you have to choose to sing anyway.
6. "Me Too" – Meghan Trainor
The one day out of the week that your clothes didn’t come from the suspicious pile in your room, you winged your eyeliner just like the cat you wish you were and you know dominated that first exam. Just pop in those earphones and mouthed this song to your worst enemy. My favorite line: “If I was you, I’d wanna be me too." I’m confident that there’s enough said.
7. "Runaway (You and I)" – Galantis
Imagine it’s Friday, you’re one and only class is cancelled and now there’s so much room in your schedule for activities.. This is the song for you my friend. I would play this song before a party, in between class, during my study break or when I want a random dance party with my best friends. It’s perfect for when your energy is at an all-time high. Galantis has the perfect beats for times like those. My favorite line: “I wanna runaway, anywhere out this place." Sometimes you just need to get away from the usual, Galantis understands.
8. "More Friends than you know" – Glee Cast
First off, “Glee” is truly missed by this girl. There wasn’t a situation or topic that was left out and you won’t find shows like that anymore. Here is one of my favorite songs and moments from Glee. The song “More friends than you know”, is for anyone who feels alone. You shouldn’t have to feel that way, if you do please know that no matter what you’re going through you’re probably not as lonely as you think. My favorite line: “Those who love you the most may need more time to grow”. Whether you’re being bullied, unaccepted, mistreated, judged or broken heart remember that you don’t have to deal with it alone.
9. "Chasing Rubies" – Hudson Taylor
Here’s a song for the love birds! It’s my all-time favorite song (I think). For the days when all you can think about is that perfect human that you hold close to your heart. Also perfect for the hopeless romantics like myself who just love, love and anything close to it. Any singles reading this, I wish this type of love on you and your future person. My favorite line: “Maybe its love, sure, I don’t know." Hudson Taylor, I know its love that I feel for you and this sweet song.
10. "Human" – Christina Perri
If you ever feel discouraged about whatever life happens to throw your way, this song is absolutely yours. A small reminder to not be so hard on yourself. You’re not supernatural and life isn’t always a trip to Disneyland. My favorite line: “I’m only human, just a little human”. Maybe, just maybe you can’t do everything right. And that’s okay.
If you’re still reading this I love you and here’s a song to prove it!
"I love you always forever," – Betty Who
