Crafting Is Keeping Me Sane
Total Sorority Move

Since we have arrived back at school I have set up what is referred to as my crafting corner. There is a large cardboard box left over from unpacking and it is propped up and taped to my white walls. I have officially splattered red paint on my walls and dresser, spilled a dot of green paint on my cream carpet and knocked over a cup that I was washing paint brushes in and spilled brackish water all over the carpet as well. Thankfully I have this amazing stain remover, it is called LA's Totally Awesome, my mother swears by it and you can find it at the dollar store. got acrylic paint out of my carpet. Miracle worker.

So why have I been spending my weekends chipping the flecks of red off my white walls? I am keeping myself busy. In my senior year, I have gone inactive from my sorority and it has given me a remarkable amount of free time. My boyfriend lives two hours away and my roommates both have jobs.

If you are like me and have a lot of spare time on your hands grab yourself an assortment of paints and crafting supplies and get busy. So far I think I have purchased enough supplies from Michael's to fund a brand new store. They send me coupons that are "$5 off of $25" so I go in there expecting a great deal and then they hand me a receipt that says I somehow still spent 48 dollars. I think I am actually addicted. Hopefully, they will use that money to open a store closer to me so I can spend that extra gas money on something more productive, like glitter.

I follow a Facebook page called The Cooler Connection, the page is not just coolers and it has helped me come up with some great projects like these:

Beer Pong Table submitted by Abigail Gerlach

Corn Hole Boards submitted by Allie Favorite

Chug Jug submitted by Kaitlyn Pearson

Cooler submitted by Haley Queen

This site is fantastic. If you visit the files page it has how to instructions, cooler contracts, font tutorials and so much more.

Judging by the amount of paint that has been splattered all over my brand new apartment, you would think I have actually completed something of my own to show you. Alas, the trick to really staying busy and not getting sick of the project you are on is to start three separate things all at the same time. I swear I will post them in the comments when I am done but at this rate it will not be until after Christmas. Hey, my freidns will get some great gifts.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
