It’s summertime and it’s time to crack open a cold one. In recent years, I’ve become a big fan of beer. I like to try new beers every chance I get, I don’t always like what I try but I’m convinced everybody has a beer that they would like. For this summer season, I’d like to share with you my top five beers that you can either enjoy by the ocean or by the pool.
For this selection of beer, I’m going to keep it on the lighter side. I’m not a huge fan of dark beers, but I’m convinced that the more I try drinking them the more I’ll find one that I’ll like. I’ll start this list out with a new favorite.
1. Abita - Purple Haze
I first had this beer in New Orleans a couple of months ago. It’s tasty and has an interesting flavor. There are not too many beers that can pull off the raspberry flavor, but Purple Haze is a must try in my opinion. It’s light and tasty.
2. Michelob Ultra
This is a very basic beer. You can get them pretty much everywhere. It’s a very solid drink. You can enjoy this beer poolside, or wherever you want. It’s very light and best of all only 95 calories. This is a beer that you can two or three of and not feel too bad about it in terms of caloric consumption.
3. Coors Light
Coors Light comes in third on this list. It’s very similar to Michelob Ultra in that it has light and simple flavors. It’s definitely a classic and good for any time of the day.
4. Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy
This is also a new favorite of mine. I’ve only recently bought this beer, but I’m in love with the flavors of lemonade mixed into it. I wasn’t too sure about it at first, lemon and beer? It seemed a bit of a strange combination to me. However, I bought a six pack and I’ve never looked back. The lemon flavor is refreshing as you drink each sip. It’s a beer to replace lemonade stands everywhere for adults
5. Red Stripe
I have a soft spot in my heart for Red Stripe. I just first tried it a few months ago, but it’s a beer that I try to keep regularly stocked in my refrigerator. It’s a wonderful blend of flavors. It’s Jamaican Beer and it seems to hold all the fun of Jamaica in it with every sip. This is definitely one of my favorite beers. It comes in a cool smaller bottle that’s not typically produced with other beers, and you definitely feel like you are on island time when you’re sipping this delight of a beer.
There you have it, this is a small list of beers that I like and some I’d recommend for those summer months. Some are basic beers, but being basic doesn’t mean that they’re not tasty. I encourage everyone if they haven’t tried a beer listed on here, to definitely go out and get one sometime during this summer time. Happy drinking.
