An Open Letter To My Cousins

To My Forever Best Friends:

I’ve frequently been told throughout my life that friends will come and go, but that family is forever. You all have proved to me that this statement is true. I’ve realized that you’ll always be here for me no matter what and that you’ll always provide me with a shoulder to lean on.

To start, I want to explain to you all how much joy that you’ve brought to my life. There is never a dull moment when I’m with you guys. You all make me smile, and the love that you shower me with is incomparable. I think of you all as my best buddies that I am lucky enough to be related to…to call my cousins.

To my cousins that I grew up with:

You guys have been right by my side since forever, and I couldn’t be more grateful. We grew up together like siblings, we were inseparable. The childhood memories that I have mainly consist of time spent with all of you. The holidays, the sleepovers, and the beach days are memories that I will cherish forever. Since we’re all grown up now, I’ve realized how different we are from each other, but when we’re together we blend so perfectly. We’re all so good at reading each other, we understand each other.

To my younger cousins:

Seeing you all grow up right before my eyes has been nothing short of amazing. I will always picture you all as little babies, it’s crazy to me that you’re growing up so fast, too fast. Time spent with you is nothing short of entertaining and exciting. You’ve expressed to me the greatest love and admiration, and you’ve given me the greatest hugs and the best kisses. Whether is it coloring, playing with your toys, or watching movies together, I always have a great time with you all. I’m so honored to have kids as special as you in my life

To all of you:

I’m so incredibly blessed to have cousins like you guys. All of you accept me for who I am. You make me feel so appreciated and loved. You’re the greatest support system that I could’ve ever asked for, it doesn’t get any better than you guys.

I’m so thankful that I’m so close to you all. I’ve met people who do not keep in touch with their cousins or people who do not have any cousins at all. I could not imagine a life without you guys, life would be very boring.

I want to thank you all for the laughter and the smiles that you bring me, and for being so kind, generous, caring and loving. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for us. Thank you for teaching me about the important things in life: that family comes first and that nothing comes close to the love that exists within a family. Most importantly, thank you for being the best friends that I will ever have. You all mean the world to me, and I love you all more than you know.

Love Always,

Your Cousin

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
