After viewing a video featuring the new Kyle Field renovations, here is a recap of absolutely everything you may want to know as an Aggie student, alumnae, or fan. Brace yourselves; you may be literally jumping for joy here in a bit. Our stadium is marvelous.
- The video explains that, “When complete, [the stadium] will be the most extensive redevelopment of a collegiate athletic facility in history.” That’s right, people. Aggies reach for excellence.
- Kyle Field now seats 102,500 people, meaning it is the biggest stadium in Texas (whoop!) and in the SEC (whoop!). Way to one-up TU. Hah.
- There are 12 student seats that will remain empty during football games to honor the fallen Aggies from the bonfire incident, a noble way to demonstrate Texas A&M’s core values.
- “The stadium design will feature a primarily traditional brick, glass, and limestone facade that will exude power, prominence, and endurance.” Ugh, why are we so cool?
- With the field level lowered seven feet, seats drawn closer to the field, and iconic canopies installed over the east and west ends, the dramatic increase in noise amplification will undoubtedly make our home turf the scariest, most intimidating place to be an opponent. How about a Fightin’ Texas Aggie Yell Practice, Ags?!
- There is now a Kyle Field Park. On the north side between the MSC and the stadium, Kyle Field Park is “developed as metaphor for a football field” to honor great moments, players, and teams of A&M. It’s also going to be one of the many new, hip places to gather during pre- and post-games.
- West side is now renovated to be Victory Plaza, a fully landscaped area to upscale the tailgating experience while also highlighting our unique core values.
- Premium and priority seat holders will enter into the west side of the field, newly known as Champions Hall. It’s three stories, air-conditioned, and basically an Aggie Football museum. If you are cool enough, maybe you’ll get to hang out in the Founder’s Suites, too?
- Speaking of! The Founder’s Suites include a premiere view of the field, lounge areas with brown leather furniture, chandeliers, and access to a high-end club that extends from goal line to goal line. See you there!
This summer of renovation is the start of an improved game day experience, arguably now the best in collegiate athletics. The renovations still honor the Aggie culture and spirit of the university, while providing all thinkable necessities and amenities in a modernized fashion. Basically, we are really, really cool. Now let's bring out that Wrecking Crew for the perfect house warming!
