Last week, I wrote a piece on Bernie Sanders and democratic socialism because I felt that his views were not being accurately represented. This week I am showing Carly Fiorina the same courtesy. As the only female republican candidate, people either do not take her seriously or do not know enough about her to make an informed decision.
Fiorina is one of the few presidential candidates without a professional political background. She started her career in AT&T and later became the CEO of Hewlett-Packard. Her tenure as CEO is widely controversial. You can learn more about her tenure at HP from her greatest critic, Jeffrey Sonnenfeld. In response, this is how she defended her track record in the CNN Republican debate. (Start at 6:16)
On her official campaign website, she has posted various short clips that answer some direct questions. I thought it would be interesting to hear her view on some of the hottest issues facing our nation. The objective of me sharing these video clips is to galvanize the public to learn more about our presidential candidates. According to Google trends, the most searched policy issues respectively are as follows: immigration, education, taxes, economy, gun control, health care, same-sex marriage, foreign policy, climate change, and women’s rights.
Immigration: Do you believe in providing a path to citizenship? What about the DREAMers?
Education:
Taxes: Addressing the tax code
Economy: How are you going to respond to the claim that democratic presidents are better at creating jobs than republicans? (Start at 1:44)
Gun Control: How do you feel about stricter gun legislation?
Health Care: What changes would you support to help control costs while improving quality and access? (Start at 0:12)
Same-sex Marriage: Where do you stand on gay marriage? (Start at 0:50 to 1:19)
Foreign Policy: What would you have done differently regarding the situation in Ukraine and ISIS? Should we pay ransom for kidnapped US citizens? (Start at 1:27)
