Have you all seen the new Pantene commercials where the NFL players style their daughters hair? Well, if so, isn't it so cute to see the bonding between father and daughter which is always a sweet moment? I enjoy the commercial because it advertises the need for dads who are not just famous to spend quality time with their daughters. I do agree with some other people that fathers play an important role in his child's life, just the same as a mother does. Growing up when I was a child I was raised by my relatives, living without my parents in my household taking care of me, so I understand that parents involvement has a great influence on every aspect of their child's life.
Learning in a psychology class I've taken in the past spring semester, a child can suffer from attachment issues and not learn how to properly express his or her emotions with others. Nurturing begins with parents being able to be attentive and caring expressing their love towards their children. If the relationship between parent and child is not secure in which they both can sufficiently be emotionally open there will be later issues in the future not just between parents and children, but also in other future relationships, friendships, associations etc. Parental guidance doesn't have to be given by a biological parent it can be another relative or person who is considered a parent, maybe because they are enabled to care for a child and mentor him or her.
Although, the Pantene commercial was created to promote bonding between fathers and daughters, many viewers have misunderstood their message. Stated in the commercial, it says that daughters will become better individuals with an active father in their lives. Contrary to that statement, I believe since there are many circumstances that explains why the father may not be present in their child's life has to be taken into consideration before any assumption is made. Whether a daughter is a "better" individual depends not only on her father's influence in her life, but there are other aspects. I believe that someone's father doesn't have to be present in their lives in order to be given the necessary guidance one needs to be stable in life. what do you think about this Pantene commercial? Is it encouraging to fathers spreading awareness to spend quality time with their daughters, or is this commercial just suggesting that fathers are mainly the ones who can positively influence their daughters lives?
