"So my foot's totally stuck in there right, I'm freaking out, the dog's having a seizure and I still got half a pie left." -Drake Parker (Drake and Josh)

I don't know about you but I really loved this show when it was around. The hilarious dialogue, outrageous schemes, obsession with Oprah, and of course MEGAN! But this part of a story caught me off guard. I wanted to know what happened that made this line so crazy and hilarious. It just seemed to make the viewer ask "What happened and why is this all happening?" I know for sure I asked this. But to this day I still don't know what led to this part of the story, the end of it, or it's real significance. I just know it still sounds really funny.

One of the biggest things I have learned in my life is the fact that context of a story is very important. That quote from "Drake and Josh" shows a bit of that. Honestly knowing the context of anything is key to knowing its true meaning or intention. All of those inspirational stories about people who have overcome the odds and achieve greatness are only that inspirational because of the context. You find out where they came from, the situations they were raised in, difficulties and trials they encountered on the way, disabilities they had/have, or any of the other aspects of their lives that had made them into the success they became.

People's contexts are a part of this too. Often days I know for myself I judge people based on only what I am currently see. Only a small insignificant part of their story. Never caring to realize there is more to the person that just cut me off in traffic, or that was really rude. I just focus on the small part I see. Now don't mistake what I am saying for an excuse for every person that does those things but see it as an encouragement to give people a chance. To try to know what got them to this point and to care. Every person is incredible in some way or another we just have to look at the whole context rather than part.

A lot of the deeper meaning to everything rests in the context. Like I have already said quite a few times already this is true for many things but one I see as one of the biggest is the Bible. For me as an early teenager I read the Bible only at a very basic level without much research into it. I missed out on so much of what the authors of it intended.

I am at Simpson University as many of you already know and being here as been such a blessing for me. I have been learning so many things I have never known or would have known without being here. I have been able to dig deeper into the passages of the Bible. Look at the culture it was written in, who it was intended for, what the purpose of what you're reading, and let God speak to you through all of that. I encourage you all to do this because for me it has strengthened my faith. It has shown me the Bible in a whole new light that makes its works all the more beautiful. Don't leave a story at just being the punch line or a random part figure out the whole story so you know why what you're reading is even more significant than you previously thought.

In the end a story must be looked at as a whole. So in every aspect of life look for the whole story. It will be so much better that way. Thank you for reading.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
