Connection Equals Happiness

When it seems like you've been trying and working hard, but nothing is happening in your life, don't get discouraged. You have to keep pushing because it will come to you when it is right! Sometimes you even find more than you were looking for.

You ever had a long period in life where you just didn't know what to do, or what was happening? It seemed like everyone was getting what they wanted or needed except you. It seemed like you just weren't lucky enough or didn't work hard enough to get whatever it was.

I want to tell you to hold on because it's coming.

It seems like it comes in waves, like at the beach. It can be very still at times, possibly stagnant. Then you get a few small waves of opportunity and happiness. Every now and then, you get a great wave that can bring you to the peace and serenity of the shoreline.

I have been really into trying to stay positive and only speak positivity into my life. It may sound corny or stupid, but for me, I feel like it's been working. A challenge, yes. But nonetheless, it's working.

I've recently spent the past few months in a job search, and it has been a complete roller coaster. Applying to at least five to ten jobs every week, I made it to over 50 different applications. Aside from dealing with everything else in life, this job search was draining me.

I can honestly say that one thing that's always been a constant throughout this journey is my friends. Besides always being positive and encouraging, I realized that they are there for much more than that.

My friends have always been my confidants, but these past few months, I have found myself sharing all of myself with these people, and they do the same for me. I have learned so much from these people as I know they have learned from me as well.

I've recently heard someone speaking about true happiness and where it comes from. There was some survey conducted, and the researchers found that the true source of human happiness depends upon the connections you form with other people. It may sound cheesy, but I just found my people.

I just met some of the most amazing people in less than a year, and they are some of the best connections I've ever made. They are completely accepting and open. I could tell them anything and they'd know exactly what to say. When I'm with any of my friends, it's like we're all connected by some metaphysical puzzle.

Looking back now, while I was waiting to land a job, I found something else as well. Or maybe it found me, but either way, I'm glad it happened the way it did.

Something brought us together, whether it was fate, timing, destiny, God, Buddha, whoever or whatever it was. I can't be happier at this point right now in my existence. No, not everything is perfect, but what is?

When you get your wave of happiness, you don't let anything take it from you. It doesn't come every day, and that's why you need to hold onto it!

So, don't give up on what you want! If it's a long-term or short-term goal, or even if it's a goal to go get ice cream, go after it and try to stay positive. The words you put into your existence hold great power over what happens.

Be ready for any emotions that come up. You have to deal with them and learn to maneuver in your life. It's all part of the human experience. When you hit a good wave make sure you take it as far as you can.

Who knows, maybe you'll find something else along the way.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
