I've lived in Connecticut my entire live and I’ve grown to love the state and all it has to offer. People I meet from places like California and Texas act like there’s nothing to Connecticut. The state is actually full of beautiful sights. There are waterfalls, farms, fields of flowers, and beaches, just to start. Connecticut isn’t just the "boring" place people seem to think it is.
1. Gillette Castle State Park, East Haddam
Gillette Castle is a beautiful park and a beautiful place to go for a walk, take in the views of the Connecticut River, and enjoy the architecture of an old fashioned small castle. The grounds make for beautiful scenery during all four of the seasons.
2. Devil's Hopyard State Park, East Haddam
Right down the road from Gillette Castle is Devil’s Hopyard; a place I have been going to since I was a little kid. Miles of hiking trails run through the woods, follow along a river flowing down from the amazing Chapman Falls. This park is a perfect spot in the summer because people can cool off by taking a swim in the water.

3. Lyman Orchards, Middlefield.

People from Connecticut know Lyman Orchards to be a great place to indulge in fall activities like pumpkin and apple picking. Also, in the summer you can pick your own blueberries, peaches, and strawberries. A sunflower maze is planted in the summer, and a corn maze in the fall. Lyman Orchards is an all-around fun place to visit.
4. Hammonasset State Beach, Madison.

I will admit that the beaches in Connecticut aren’t as great as the ones in Florida or even Rhode Island, but in my opinion it’s only because of how rocky the ocean floor is. Hammonasset is a perfect place to lay out in the sun for the day. The ocean isn’t too rocky to swim in, but sometimes people don’t prefer it. The sunsets on the beach provide a relaxing site.
5. Northford

Driving down Route 22 in Northford during the summer, you can’t miss the endless field of bright sunflowers. The flowers are a perfect background for pictures and they’re fun just to walk through on a sunny day. Who doesn’t love flowers?
6. Wadsworth Falls State Park, Middlefield
At the end of a long hike through the woods, sits a small, but beautiful waterfall. Wadsworth falls provides a scenic background for occasions like senior portraits and weddings. It is also an extremely peaceful place to go when you want some quiet time.
These are just a few of the amazing places to visit in Connecticut. Before people decide to talk badly about this state, they should do their research and actually go to some of the places talked about above. They really won’t be missing out.
